mexbound Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 This morning I logged on to my CFE account to look at my June CFE bill (many posted yesterday 6/6). I noticed that when I looked at the pdf file of the bill, it now shows a barcode near the bottom. In the past, the barcode was not on this version of the bill just the paper one they delivered (or hopefully delivered). Without the barcode we couldn't pay at OXXO, etc. It appears now we can print this off and possibly pay the bill using this printed version. I haven't tried paying it yet using the new printed copy. If you are successful printing off this new bill and using it to pay at OXXO etc... then post it here. Perhaps this is leading up to being able to opt out of the paper bill delivery.

You can pay your bill online if you have a Mexican bank account- been doing that for years now much easier than running around lakeside as I often drove to JOCO just to pay the bill - ugh
hensley Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Wow the new website is great, you can even go and look at your history of past bills. Ours went up $118 since our last billing cycle but that is due to running the fans all the time.
johanson Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 My last bill was delivered in late April. Sadly the online version, even today, does not show the bar code. Yes the example bill did but not the print out of my older bill today. I hope that the printout of my next bill shows the barcode.
lakeside101 Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 the printed mailed bills are different this cycle too.
sambrit10 Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 We used a print of the online bill to pay our last bill at Bancomer. (I later found the CFE bill, which is usually delivered by being thrown over our front wall, in a large potted plant.) I don't remember if it had a barcode but if not, they didn't need it. The payment went through fine. Should be no reason to drive a long distance to pay the bill as they seem to accept payments at a large variety of places. Then I use the website to make sure the payment actually went through. Works great!
ComputerGuy Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 I have two bills covering through June; one delivered by the rental agency, electronically (not a scan), which does NOT show the barcode. So I logged in to my CFE account, and lo and behold, it DOES show the barcode and the new style. So Pete, try clearing your cache and logging in again. BTW, you have been able to access your old bills for quite a while now, online. But this barcode addition is excellent. Imagine the time we, and CFE, will save.
johanson Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 My last bill was April. My June reading isn't until about the 22nd of the month. I'm glad that they made the change on the newer bills. Why does it matter? Well without the barcode, I can still pay early at say Oxxo, but not on the day the bill is due. Rather I would have to drive to the CFE office in Chapala. Now that the electronic bill has a barcode, it's my understanding that I can pay at places like Oxxo as late as the day the bill is due. Please, someone correct me, if I don't quite have it right
ComputerGuy Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 My experience has been you cannot pay anywhere but the office without the barcode. And even with the barcode, you cannot pay after two days before the due date at a store... I have never been able to pay on the due date at any store. My current bill says it was "read" on 03 June, but it is not due 'til the 16th. That's pretty much two weeks ahead, so your new bill may be online now...
Ginger Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 I got my latest bill today. The total was as I expected but on the back they list the charges back to June/August, 2011.
valbogyo Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 So.....Is everyone getting these full "letter size" CFE bills now? I just went and picked mine up. By the way.... It is so sweet to get a $39.00 peso CFE bill. I love my Solar!!!
Ginger Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 A friend who has solar has the big piece of paper. Mine's the same old size.
sioux4noff Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 I tell people now that we've gone solar, our bills are bigger. Because they are letter-size now. I crack myself up. In Bucerias, we get bills monthly now (with our digital bidirectional meter). The minimum payment is about 22 pesos per month.
ga356 Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 Mine hasn't been delivered yet but was supposedly read on the 4th of June and is online today (with the barcode) and printed out with no problems. Whether OXXO will accept it is another question. . . .
ComputerGuy Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 I have a real, updated current CFE bill in hand... it is not letter-sized; it's the same old size. Perhaps you are printing it out on letter-sized paper, and/or your program is not set to print "actual size".

Those who do, seem to get the letter size delivered while those of us without solar get the old type.
johanson Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 I have solar. My last bill was delivered almost two months ago and was the same size as normal, you know the old size. That billing period was from 22 Feb to 22 April
Ginger Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 I think the bigger sized bills came out this month.
Jeanneb2000 Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 It doesn't matter the size of the bill for heavens sake. If printed out on my computer with the bar code, can I take it to OXXO to pay with it?
ComputerGuy Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 It doesn't matter the size of the bill for heavens sake. If printed out on my computer with the bar code, can I take it to OXXO to pay with it? No, of course it doesn't matter, but that's what conversation is all about, dear lady. So far, no one I know has tried to pay it at a store, so we will just have to wait and see. It does not make any sense, however, for them to add a real barcode that is not useable. There are no "cannot read" barcodes, unless someone fakes one. A reader just reads what it sees. (Heck, I have three different pieces of software on my PC, and there are several free ones on the Web, that will make you up all kinds of barcodes. I use mine for book publishing for my customers.)
bezerk Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 I paid my electric bill which I printed at home with barcode at Walmart yesterday... So yes you can print it and then pay at store, might have to convince them at first as I did that it was legit and new bill...
stoneleigh Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 We tried to pay our printed bill with bar code at Bancomer and at Oxxo and it would not accept the printed code.
Fox Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Anyone else have trouble with NOT being able to pay their electric bill, using the print out with the bar code?? Thanks, Fox
Fox Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Ok, so my wife went to OXXO and they did accept our print out bill from CFE. Fox
