I have lived here, in the same place for over 8 years. I drive a foreign plated vehicle. I have never been stopped or ticketed, I have never been burglarized nor robbed. I have never been ripped off by anyone that I have done business with.My gardener and my housekeeper have had keys to my place for over 7 years without incident. Never a problem with propane theft from the one delivery guy that I have used since I moved here TelMex has always gone out of their way to help me. CFE is a countrywide pain in the ### to all of us. I have never been treated unfairly by any Mexican in any situation. Is it just me? If it is not just me, let those of us who have had very positive experiences here chime in and do something to counter all of this negativity. Just a thought.

Never had a problem with CFE in fact I forgot to pay the bill when I first moved here and the guy knocked on my door and told me he was there to turn off the power.  All I had was 50 pesos.  He was happy and didn't disconnect me and I promptly paid. Life is good!!!

Darn, I've had the same experience living here over 12 years. Nothing to complain about. Only being blessed every day in this wonderful country and its people.  I thought there was something wrong with me!

Five years for me with no negative experiences. I have never been treated with such respect, kindness and helpfulness on a day-to-day basis. I LOVE it here.

my experience has also been very positive.  Nothing to complain about.  This board should have a section for complainers only.  Keep them all in one place until they return up north.

Going on 8 years and really great experiences. We have done quite a bit of remodeling and the folks that work on our house have become like family. We've been invited to family parties and when we run into them around town they appear really happy to see us.

Our maid and gardener who happen to be brother and sister have become like family. We get invited to end of school ceremonies, family parties, first communion, birthdays, etc., etc. We just adore them and are humbled by how well we are treated.

We have been very fortunate to develop several other sets of local friends and from one of those friendships we have become like family with another wonderful family. They refer to their own kids and my nietos (grandchildren).

Just love it here with SO many positive experience. We have been burglarized and have been hassled a couple of times by the transitos. But all in all those things have been minor (even the rather extensive burglary), nobody was hurt and it didn't dampen our love of the country, our respect for the people, or the great joy we get from the wonderful relationships with have developed. This is now home and we can't imagine leaving. We are VERY lucky to have found our way here.

Just a passing thought...if you have really been here eight years, why are you a "newbie" on this board?

SAME HERE. Except my maid has been with me almost 18 years, has always had my keys. Same with the gardener and next door neighbors (Mexicans). Thanks for posting this!
