Well here I go again. I agreed to post this for my friend. Of course I'm happy to do so for this poor little puppy. She was being openly mistreated by a boy on the malecon, and My friend's friend managed to convince the kid to hand over the puppy. The person who saved her, however, is moving into a nursing home in a couple weeks. The puppy needs a lovin' someone who can also provide her the kind of exercise she needs. Please let me know if you're interested and I'll put you in touch with Marsha. If you're not, please forward this information to someone who might. Someone responsible. Let's hope she finds what she needs.

I wish I could take her, pits are such wonderful dogs.  I have a full house with 5 pups already, but will keep my eyes and ears open.

What a beautiful puppy. I remember the pitbull "Daddy" that The Dog Whisperer had. So calm and gentle. In a good home this little girl will do well.

Yeah, but she had the chance to "maul" the little jerk who was picking on her & it doesn't sound like that happened.  Usually, they get trained to be mean by the $%&/()s who mistreat them.

That's right, CWB. I'll make sure she will go to someone who will call to her calm and gentle nature.

Have another drink, Bourbanman. Bad people bring that out in pitbulls. This is just a puppy who has a good, loving life ahead of her so long as she is not abused. This is a serious thread trying to do good. For a PUPPY. Who jumps on to a thread to malign PUPPIES? Who goes on a thread and posts for the sole purpose of making it more difficult for a PUPPY to find its way out of misery into a loving home? Too weird. And sad.

I don't drink, but may be necessary to stomach the defense of Pit Bulls.  Why don't you read about other breeds killing children & old people.  I suppose these innocent children have brought out the "beast" in this undefensible breed.

I suppose defense od "Narcos" is acceptable because they have been abused & not trained to honor society

Poe, I read your first post on the kitten and now this one. I find you an extraordinarily postive, caring, compassionate and loving human being. We need more folks like you. Keep up the good work and never, ever let the naysayers bring you down. And above all, please keep us informed about what is happening with this gorgeous pup.

Poe, Do you have any idea how old she is? Has she been spayed?  Has she been to a vet and what was the outcome?  How does she get along with other dogs? How would you describe her temperament? All questions that anyone that would consider adopting her would want to know, maybe even before they visit her.  I know you have limited information about her, but please share what you do know.  Any chances of the kid's parents coming to reclaim her?  After all, your friend was dealing with a child and a purebred pit bull probably cost mom and dad a lot more than was paid to the kid, who did not have the right to give up the puppy. I had this happen to me once, after I fell in love and had to give her back to the owners, as she was not the street dog that I was told she was.  She was simply a Mexican owned dog out for a stroll  around town with no leash, collar or ID

I know this isn't what people want to hear, but I was on a committee NOB that wrote the original BSL for our city, and have studied the problem extensively. Pit Bulls were selectively bred for generations to be dog and small animal aggressive. Some honest reputable breeders have worked hard to breed these tendencies out, but too many have not. It is NOT a matter of being nice to the dog or training the dog - it goes much deeper than that. A pit with an aggressive nature can no more stop than a Border Collie can stop herding. So you are getting a time bomb. The puppy may never be anything but a sweetheart or he may attack the neighbor's poodle or kitten for no apparent reason. Pits are bred to be nice to people but if you break up an attack, watch out.

And please remember the "Dog Whisperer" is Reality TV and not the real deal. His ideas and methods are not taken seriously by the dog training community.

Come, come, my conservative friend, wipe the dew off your spectacles, and see that the world is moving.
