Fred Habacht Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 I have tried to find "live bearing" snails for my pond....with no luck.....anyone know where I might buy some? By the way....a poster on here gave us some guppy male and females and we replaced our goldfish with them. We now have hundreds of beautiful tropicals that made it through the winter and are large, colorful and healthy....FYI Fred Habacht
Hernan Santiago Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 Had no idea that snails could be trained to stay inside a pond. Just in case you find them and just in case you can't train them keep a large supply of beer and small glasses and a salt shaker on hand. That will train them, albeit, a tad late. If that fails, add some clamato juice and limes and enjoy your micheladas.
Fred Habacht Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 Ah...Herman....still being almost humerous. You will note that land snails will drown in deep water...whereas "pond" snails live only in water. You might also read up on why fish don't need intensive training to stay in water.
Hernan Santiago Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Damn Fred, Thought I would at least get a high five for bumping up your snail fantasy. Hope you find them and they bring you happiness.
bmh Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 We had several ponds in California and the snails just appear eventually especially if you put water plants in your pond.
