Is stopped by their office late today, they indicated that the failure was system wide and that they had been working on it all day and that they were going to work on it until it is fixed.

And it's not even raining?

Telecable Internet went down overnight 5/17 and was down most of Friday. It is still down this morning. Jesus @ Telecable sent me this email to my report of the outage:

thanks for your report we are currently working on a fiber problem and solving it as soon thanks for your understanding

This has been going on, off and on, since they improved the infrastructure with fiberoptics and new cables in Chapala. It seems like a loose connection, which they usually fix by pushing it back together, while ignoring whatever keeps pulling it apart; maybe temperature change or moving earth. Who knows?

It is also obvious that there are few, if any, qualified people working at Telecable on the weekends, when things can remain inoperative until Monday mornings; after desayuna, of course.

We are getting fed up, along with everyone else. Telecable needs some serious competition, but we do not expect to see any that would provide the amount of English programming they offer, as well as the local Mexican channels.

It's now almost 6 p.m. on Saturday and Telecable internet has been out here in lower Chula Vista for two days straight. We learned the hard way to have Telmex as backup, but it's pitifully slow (less than 2MB regardless of what paquette you pay for) in this neighborhood. Telecable does seem to be getting worse, which one would have thought impossible.

When I was in the office Friday, paying annual "14 months for 12" fees, the girl told me the problem was at the main "depot" in El Salto and covered a much bigger area than just Lakeside.

So hold your horses, people. They'll get it done when they get it done. And yes, we had to seek out a friend with alternate service so we could watch the Preakness today! As for tonight, a good book will be my alternative.

Now, another thread indicates the possibility of Telecable,s owners considering selling it to Megacable, or another cable conglomerate. It should be valued at much less this weekend.
