Any info on requirements to take cremation ashes into the US? In particular someone with actual experience in doing so and where to procure urn suitable for airport X-Ray

Thanks

Each airline can have different requirements and it is best to check with them. It is frequent that the urn be sealed by the funeral home and that you also have a copy of the death certificate.

San Miguel in Guadaljara uses a wooden box but I believe that some of the more recently opened local funeral homes also have a metal urn

available.

Earlier this year an acquaintance took ashes back to the U.S. and had no problem whatsoever. TSA xrayed and did not question their answer

that it was ashes.
