Volunteering - no reply?!

A friend is planning to come to Ajijic and wants to volunteer his services to LCS. He emailed more than once but did not get a response. I sent an email on his behalf to both Terry and Howard a week or so ago. I have not received a reply, either? I'm not in Mexico at the moment so I can't go to LCS in person.

He's trying to make his lodging and length of stay arrangements based on whether his offer of volunteering is a reality.

So, what now? Too busy? Don't need volunteers? A reply would be nice.

I just copied your post into an email that I sent to a friend who is an LCS board member. I'm hoping that will help your friend get a response.

The recent LCS directory states the coordinator of volunteers is a vacant position. As a volunteer who coordinates a service, I can send the email contact I was given if you PM me. I am not sure if we are allowed to just post it here. Even not knowing this person's skills or interests , there are SO many organizations here who need volunteers.

I agree that a reply is warranted - but hopefully the visitor gave

sufficient information. What are their qualifications? What department might

they be interested in? Does that area NEED a volunteer? Some areas have requirements -

some can use snowbirds and some not. Some departments require that a volunteer have

lived here full time for a minimum specific time - Information desk for example.

Service Desk in the office has a time residency requirement as well.

Blood pressure testing, etc requires a medical background.

Someone the other day wanted to volunteer for two weeks - not much available

for that time frame as some training is required for just about everything.

I need two volunteers.

One to work 10am to noon a couple of weekdays a week in the magazine room and help me get some projects done like putting the fiction books on sale in order. I just don't have time now. Great way to meet people and not so critical a job if you don't show up the world does not end like not having no one to check out books or such.

I also need a volunteer to take over the LCS cats managment. We have folks who take them to the vet and such we need a person to buy food raise a little money to take care of them and feed them on sunday once in a while as we have a volunteer or two for most of the time. I need someone to take over the management of the cats. Some minor treatment of the cats may be required for example I use to have to give eyedrops to Cinder to rebuild her lens in the

past. Must be full timer for this job.
