Is it necessary to have ones computer turned ON to receive magic jack calls.

Note that, with the older model (plugged into your USB jack on the computer), if your computer is not on, your callers will be directed to your voicemail and can leave a voicemail message, 24/7. Your VM messages will be sent (as attachments) to your e-mail account and are also available by phoning your VM box.

We used the older model for over a year and never had a problem with missed calls. We now have the MagicJack Plus, which has its own computer inside and hooks directly to your router with an ethernet cable.
