Fairfax County man captured in Mexico 12 years after fleeing from drug and sex charges

By Associated Press, Published: August 17AP

FAIRFAX, Va. — Fairfax County police say a fugitive who disappeared 12 years ago has been returned from Mexico to face drug and sex charges.

The Washington Post, which first reported the story, says police are investigating how 39-year-old Wesley Thomason managed to live for years in an expatriate community near Lake Chapala in central Mexico.

Thomason was arrested in 2000 on charges he gave illegal drugs to underage girls and filmed himself having sex with at least two of them. Authorities say he was illegally selling the videos, and that there could be more victims.

Thomason fled before going to court. He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
Mexican authorities located Thomason last month, based on leads from Fairfax County investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service.

not that it matters, but usa court docs are on internet. they are publicly accessable. just search someones name & there it is. even doctors. this is not the first fugitive who was caught here. the others.....well, no ones looking for them.

Maybe the US Marshalls should have wanted poster on the back page of the Guad Reporter. I recall in the 70s the back page of many tabloid sized papers had photos of US runaways.

He was known here as Chris. Don't even know if people knew his last name, and in order to find people on the Internet, don't you have to know their full name?

One of the old sayings about this area is that there are only two kinds of folks here, the wanted and the unwanted!

Not if they change their name. Had a house sitter (highly recommended by a neighbor) who was a felon in USA. His name was different from his presentation card. Everybody thought his name was Dale. He worked for many years in Vista del Lago Gulf Course. Him and a cuate stole my jewelry and only could recovered a ring at the pawn shop next to Soriana. t at the pawn shop took photos of the friend, they were out of focus. The guy who pawn my ring gave a false name and address. About 1 1//2 year ago his photo was shown in this website. He was caught in the USA while visiting. Charges were related to child abuse ( sexual attack on a minor in a store bathroom.). From that day on no one stays in my house except my gardener of 7 years.

The picture is that of "Chris Stevens" and he was deported recently. He was our next door neighbor in upper La Floresta for the past 3 or so years. It was a real nightmare. He was addicted to meth and was absolutely crazy, dangerous and incoherent much of the time. Manny you are correct that this is the Chris Stevens who did the Mac club a few years ago and worked at the Lake Chapala Review for a while.
