I need someone who can recover files from a good backup (secondary) hard drive on a computer that has crashed for good. Where can I go right now to get this done?

Thanks.

Alberto (Beto) is THE BEST computer whiz I have ever met. He is amazing and I highly recommend him. Good luck.

Make sure that whoever you pick that you ask them to be honest about whether or not they can recover the files and if they've done it before. For this kind of thing you really need someone who knows exactly how to do this.

Remember, the hard drive is OK, it is the power supply that is fried. All we need to do is hook it up and read it and copy a couple of files. If I had another computer of similar age, I'd just move the thing there, unfortunately this one is a real antique.

Like me. :)

Well sorta. . . :D

The old drive might fit on your CD drive cable

If you have an external USB hard drive, you should be able to open it's enclosure to find out if it accepts the same connector as is on your old hard drive. Either IDE ( now referred to as PATA) or SATA. If the connector in the external USB enclosure are that same as your HD, then plug it in, close up the enclosure and connect it to your computer. You should have no problems in getting to your data.

holy smoke
any of the techs will be able to hook up the drive and copy the stuff off.
There are usually 2 IDE interfaces available and they'll just put your drive as master or slave on one of the two.
It aint even firecracker science

The computer I do this kind of thing on has, as others have suggested, an IDE capability and a SATA capability, as well as slots for external drives. Doesn't take long to hook up any drive and transfer a few files.
