I'm not usually lied to, especially by Telecable. I wonder why people lie to you?

One of us isn't getting the truth, looks like it's up to you to find out and share it with us all, I'm sure inquiring minds want to know.

I'm not taking sides here about the debate you two are having. I'm just saying I know the folks at the Chapala Telecable office. And they have always told me the truth to the best of their abilities. I've talked to the manager with the same results. They're nice folks. And sure when they say something will be done in say 3 months, when further ask them, they smile, well that is at least our plan and we hope so.

I find it sad that these workers are being called liars. They are not

UPDATE: I thought several things people were posting here were probably wrong, because at one time Telecable had another policy. All I know is that as of today when I asked the Chapala Telecable receptionist, if I could only have TV or only telephone or only internet she said yes, that having basic TV was no longer a requirement for another service

At one time I was told that you always had to have basic TV before you could have another package. But according to her this is no longer a requirement

I have had Telecable Internet only for over 2 years. It's now at the 10mb level for $654 pesos/month which includes a $50 charge for what they call IP Plus.

Did she say they charge more than the listed price for internet/telephone because the cabling for basic TV still needs to be installed? I wonder if someone who gets internet/telephone only can hook up a TV and have basic TV although it wasn't ordered.

Isn't Telecable telephone VOIP so one must have internet?

I am only passing on what the lady said. I don't know what type of signal is sent down the perhaps RG-6 cable to each home or what you can bleed therefrom. What I do know is that they have all kinds of handouts available (I got 6 different handouts) about all of the services and that the lady said you could keep your old Telmex #.

Also of course if I just had their internet I could use my own VoIP system without paying Telecable for their phone service

Persaonally, I'm sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for Griffin to report back to us on what his "personal" email manager says. I'm willing to take that as what really is the "truth" (vs an untruth) and we'll go from there, so Griffin, it's in your court, we're waiting for your confirmation.

I didn't want to start a battle here by reporting what the lady told me. Maybe she's wrong. What I want to know is how reliable they are now in my area. (upper West Ajijic)

I wrote Tech Talk for the Guadalajara Reporter, and I've been wrong. I could be wrong here. I just know what the lady told me. Please let's not fight. You are both good guys.

MOST IMPORTANT is what the rules are today. I Couldn't believe that Telecable changed them. If the nice young lady was correct

If and when I get around to it. I don't need Telecable internet or telephone right now. Why don't you go stalk someone else?

Griffin, You crossed the line, there are two things you absolutely DO NOT call someone on a public forum and that is a racist or stalker, both carry extremely personal, defamatory and threatening connotation I would ask the mods of this forum to take appropriate action regarding your personally damaging accusations.

Further, as you have condemned me on a public forum read by many people, I must insist on a public apology for your attack; words have meanings and carry serious consequences in a community such as ours, I've already received one email from NOB regarding your statement.

This thread was started by the OP for info on Telecable pricing, you began by giving incorrect information, your statements were as follows:

"You have to buy basic cable to get internet so that's probably true of phone also."

"You are paying more because you are paying for basic cable even though you don't have it hooked up."

Both incorrect, my polite response was:

"Sorry, that's not correct, you can have basic Internet only, no TV, no phone for $301."

At which point you became snarky and combative without any justification or factual information (apparently).

"I am correct. You must have or pay for basic cable to get internet. You do not need to use the TV cable but you are paying for it. The internet is in the cable TV wiring."

Then your personal boast and offer to verify your statements - I was willing to wait to receive your clarification - which was NOT forthcoming to this moment.

"I have the manager's and the VP's personal email addresses. Why don't I email the manager in Chapala, CC it to the VP in Guadalajara, and see what the answer is?"

I was perfectly willing to wait for you to correct yourself, but I would assume that either; your "friend" has corrected you or you stopped in Telecable and they corrected you, but ego and vanity are preventing you from admitting you posted incorrect and erroneous information regarding Telecable and it's pricing.

I will end this with the correct information which I posted originally. Griffin, it probably never occurred to you why I knew the numbers, or that I might be a Telecable subscriber did it? Recently I asked for Internet only, 8MB service. I paid them $200MXD for installation and then returned to their office to pay $350 more for the first month, no TV no telephone, I have the receipts for all transactions.

I'll await your public apology for your malicious and defamatory statement.

I think you are still over the top. It's like this has somehow offended your whole being. I think you have made a mountain out of a molehill and it seems to have affected your whole ego. It is extremely odd that my answer about Telecable is so injurious to your state of mind that you feel the need to write a book about it, and go on and on forever about this.

I cited in almost every post the Telecable website. I copied the information from the Telecable website. Copying and quoting what Telecable advertises is not my opinion, it is what Telecable advertises. I don't have an opinion about what Telecable charges and that is why I copied and pasted what Telecable has on its website. I assume the "opinions" you think were so hurtful to you were Telecable's advertised prices and conditions, not mine, I copied what Telecable has on its website.

This is what I sent to the local manger Abelardo Cid and cc: to a VP and Abelardo responded today:

On the Telecable website it states that one must have basic TV cable to have internet/telephone. On Chapala.com there is an argument that some people claim they have internet without paying for basic cable TV. One man stopped by your office Monday and was told that he can have internet without basic cable TV and he could get telephone service without basic TV or paying internet service. I think it is impossible to have telephone without internet since it is VOIP telephone and without internet the phone would be impossible.

If the Telecable website is wrong, that people can order internet/telephone without basic TV, why doesn't Telecable correct the website and what is the price?

From Abelardo Cid:

The info is correct. You can have internet or tphone without tv service.

Obviously there are different plans here, (Chapala are) and maybe other locations, than what are listed on the Telecable website. I hope this helps you sleep better and clams your nerves. I never realized what Telecable charges was such an ego twister and would be so offensive to you.

No it never occurred to me that you are a Telecable customer because I know what an exclusive club that is. I don't know how on Earth I've had Telecable for so long. Now that is weird.

Publicly I will state that I am sorry that you have some serious issues. Now that you have my apology, does this mean you will quit following me around looking for every tiny hole you can find in whatever I write? What is another word for that?

This is my opinion, or thought, and I wrote this earlier, if one can have standalone telephone, I bet if he has a splitter and a DSL box he also has internet and basic TV. The same with only internet, if he splits the signal he has basic cable TV, The signal is interpreted by the the receiving unit. With digital TV, the digital box picks up the digital signal and without the box the signal is basic TV. I doubt Telecable can tell if someone is using the phone connection for internet and basic TV. It would be interesting to know if it works and probably why the Telecable website states that one must pay for basic TV to receive internet. I guess in this are no one thinks the customers could figure it out.

No Griffin:

"Publicly I will state that I am sorry that you have some serious issues. Now that you have my apology, does this mean you will quit following me around looking for every tiny hole you can find in whatever I write? What is another word for that?" - Is NOT an apology for calling me a stalker, the problem is not mine, it's your disinformation misleading others who might actually believe you know what you post to be true is the problem and no amount of weasel words are going to change that.

Do you imagine for an instant (never mind you wouldn't "get it") that a national website is updated minute to minute? Do you actually believe everything on websites literally?

If you are unwilling to clear my name of the malicious insult then I must ask the moderators for action to preserve the integrity of this site from not only misinformation on you part, but to address your rather cavalier and slanderous use of labels.

I remain waiting for a simple admission of your mistakes and more importantly your simple apology for attempting to label me with a slur - no weasel words, no dodges and especially no attempts to make this my problem when it is you who have been wrong from the beginning.
