we drove down for the day last Friday-testing out the new car - even with some areas still under construction we did it in 2.15 hours from Guad one way

2:15. Very impressive. It seems to always take me at least three.
While I can't comment on road conditions, I can (from experience) comment on beach conditions at Manzanillo in August: Hot, humid, crowded (school vacation). Nonetheless, hope you enjoy your trip.

I just drove back today and you can make great time. Still working on roads but it was perfect.
