El Toro Furioso Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 We tried going to dinner tonight at Bubba's in Riberas. He advertised hours til 7:30pm and new mini-burgers a la White Castle in the Guad Reporter. We get there at 6:30 and are told that the restaurant is closed (there are guests seated and eating when we arrive). I ask to speak to Bubba and he tells us that the deep frier is broken. We say that we don't want to order anything made with the deep frier. He lets us in. No invitation to sit at a table, no menus, no request for a drink order. We are just left sitting there. I finally ask the waitress for menus and she brings us one menu for the two of us. We feel very unwelcome and leave. We won't be returning for "Texas Hospitality" anytime soon. Just thought that this bad attitude experience should be shared. I imagine that there will be defenders responding to this post, but I'm telling it like it happened.

I have not been to Bubba's for over a year, and I WILL NOT go back. The same problem. His attitude sucks as far as I am concerned. Tho, I believe the Cocina Mod needs to move this thread to La Cocina.
johanson Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Although I bet you are correct that it should be moved, some of us never go there, so leaving it here a while would be appreciated. Pete Left it there for a while!
giltner68 Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Been there several times, no problems, including mini burgers. Each to his own.
Guest RevImmigrant Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 I eat there some and have never had any problems with the service.
Jeanneb2000 Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 I like Bubba's. Had one meal I didn't care for one time. So be it, I still go there just don't order what I didn't like. I had, in my opinion, an under par meal at my favorite restaurant in Sacramento CA. Still my favorite restaurant. Restautants have off days, just as we humans to, so try not to judge too harshly
Fred Habacht Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 We had breakfast there on Monday...we had great service from the waitress and the food was well worth the price.....looking for negatives must make some folks feel very happy..... Fred
HelperGuy Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I'd disagree that the comments about Bubba's are just sour grapes. My Mom used to really dig his chicken-fried everything. (I can't stomach his overdone, overbattered, overgreased food; however, that's just me.) But since he opened, he's sat in his little corner throne and never lifted a finger to oversee his service staff. They are lazy, slow, and totally unconcerned. Each time I took my Mom, I had to get up at least twice to get service, sometimes three and four times. They just don't bother coming out to check on you (and the food takes forever to arrive). Having to wave my hands frantically whenever they appear at someone else's table is not my idea of good times; otherwise, they won't look at you.
