It's time to install a pool cover for our swimming pool. Does anybody have a recommendation of which pool supply here or in Guadalajara to go to - any specifics I need to understand when I go shopping?

These are the standard bubble solar covers.

There is no perfect pool cover solution, but many happy lake-siders (and web-boarders) are using Solar Sun Rings on their pools with great results & ease of use.

PM if you'd like more info / references.

There are about 6 pool supply places Lakeside. I would shop and compare for the standard bubble covers. I got my last one at Techna Aqua. I've seen the lily pad/solar rings in use locally. After awhile they look pretty crumby and have to be patched as they develop leaks. They aren't as effective as the standard bubble covers.

Sorry, Cedros, you are entitled to your view but I must disagree with you on it, as would many of our very satisfied clients.

The original (there are lesser imitations / copies) Solar Sun Rings carry a 2 year warranty (you won't find that on a one piece cover anywhere) and they also add substantial heat to the pool due to their unique design, similar to a thermopane window. They are easy to remove and replace, & work great on odd shaped pools.

Our hard water at lakeside means that white cal / scale can build up on anything (pool tiles, covers, etc) and it is important to maintain these things with regular rinsing, but when cared for they have made the difference for many clients between being able to use their pool, especially at the cooler times of the year, and also to have fewer solar pool panels as well, thanks to the much better temperatures achieved as a result.

I just order a cover online and pick it up when in the U.S. for one third the cost here.

Use soft water in your pool, it will pay for itself in reduced maintenance.

On the above post I tried to say this but it refused to post or to edit;
From what I've seen I much prefer the solar blanket. It depends what works for you. Here are a bunch of interesting comments both pro and con.

FYI folks:

1 - the link Cedros posted shows reviews from 2010 and much older. The product has been re-designed and the "new and improved" version has been available at lakeside since earlier this year.

2 - The model sold here has the water anchors as standard, which help keep them in place on the water, even in high winds.
