Hello Everyone, Newbie here. Wife and I own a house in Chapala and were told of a soup and sandwich shop in Chapala near the zocolo area. I got the impression it was on the same side as the Legion but up closer to the market and square on one of the streets that run parallel to the caratera.

Anyone aware of this shop and is it still there? I seem to remember it being owned and opperated by an expat couple from either Canada or the USA.

tnx

Hi and welcome,

I haven´t heard of any place like that here in Chapala, but.... the best sandwiches are immediately at the right hand side of the main (plaza entrance) market entrance. .... always very busy.
And Jose (one of the restaurants outside the market, but part of that market builing) has delicious soup.

My wife and I have eaten at Jose's many times and love the food. I will have to try the other you mention as we are often in that area almost daily. We have yet to take in the Legion festivities. I understand they too are very good like the fish and chips fridays?

Thanks

A friend and I ate at the Legion on a Wednesday a few weeks ago. She had the lasagne and said it was good. Someone had written about their wonderful chicken salad so I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. It was a lot of dry bread and a very thiin filling of something, I know not what.
It had been years since I ate there and it will be many years until I try it again.
Ir is easier to love Mexico than to understand it.

I too have heard mixed reviews but one thing everyone seems to agree on is the fish n chips and the lasagne are both pretty good with a good value for the buck.

Wish I could discover that little sandwich place. Perhaps the folks are not even in Mexico anymore and returned to the north. That does happen. I can't wait to get back in January.
