My friends just called me to tell me that their dog was poisoned yesterday. Dr Pepe gave emergency treatment, and the poor thing lived only a few hours.

They live on Pescadores which is a small street on the lake side right between Riberas and Chapala.

Someone threw tortilla-wrapped poisoned food over their wall, or slid it under their gate. All that was left was the tortilla in their yard, because their sweet perrita didn't like tortillas.

This, of course is terrible. Could there be a reason for this? Could this have been done by someone who wants to break in?

Just a thought, you should consider.

Again sorry about your friends terrible loss.

Pete may have the right idea about why this was done.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Before you get too paranoid about a possible break-in is it possible you had a dog who barked/whined/cried excessively?

Actually, they had 3 big dogs. (now 2) They are quiet unless someone comes to the yard to visit. Then they calm down in a very few minutes. I never heard them being excessively noisy, and they live indoors /outdoors.

And it was not my dog, but belonged to a couple I know well. Just a word of warning to dog owners. I don't know if all the dogs were the target. This dog was just lying out in the sun in front of the house by the front of the lot, near the wall. They are calling her their Hero -- because of her sacrifice the other 2 dogs are still alive
