We may be moving soon. We are wondering what we would owe our maid if/when that happens. Any insights would be appreciated.

Go to Rollybrook dot com. He spells it out clearly there. You will owe her severance plus unused vacation time. Severance is calculated on the basis of pay and time in service.

I should have mentioned that our maid works for us two hours, one day a week. Haven't seen anything that speaks to that kind of scenerio. Thanks again.

Gary, you figure out the proportional amounts due. The rollybrook.com site explains how to figure all this. And, once you have your math done, you can post on here to confirm. Do ask her to sign a receipt as "payment in full" so you will be protected.

It would be nice if you can help her get a new job, either in your house (after you leave) or elsewhere (posts here and posters at LCS are a big help). A letter of recommendation would be nice also. Many people here will not hire a maid to work inside their house unless she comes with a recommendation as to honesty, timeliness, etc.
