Some of my friends and I are wondering how many ladies would be interested in a new Red Hat Society Chapter. I believe there is already one here but we would like to start another. Some of things we can do are dinner and a play, maybe a nice concert or maybe even a day trip somewhere. Please PM me if you think you might be interested. Don't forget we can also attend the big conventions that the national chapter has.

Well as a group they wear purple dresses and red hats and if you are under 50 years old then you wear a lavender dress and a pink hat. Its based on http://www.redhatsociety.com/ And there is a section for starting a new chapter. This is the inspiration poem and I particularly like the running with sticks part, but am not a member:

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple

By Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple

with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired

and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

and run my stick along the public railings

and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

and pick the flowers in other people's gardens

and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

and eat three pounds of sausages at a go

or only bread and pickles for a week

and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

and pay our rent and not swear in the street

and set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

I like that version. I've seen others, but this one is even more outrageous. Thanks, Sola.

I am not clear on why you think you need a third group. Do you have some specific reason why the two existing groups aren't meeting your needs? I am not a member of either or the Chapala Ladies Group, but am curious.

I am use to a group that does a lot of different things and likes to party and gets along very well. I do not know anything about the two groups here or even how to get in touch with their Queen. Most groups are very low key and and don't do much which is not what we are looking for.
