I" presently" know that only one car may be brought into Mexico from NOB. I was talking to a guy (Lakeside) who said that he also had a Motorcycle and a car from NOB. Are there exceptions to the one vehicle per person temp importation? He told me that the Motorcycle is somehow recreational and can be treated differently ? Anyone have both (motorcycle & car) legally under one name? Not talking about Nationalizing the vehicles or Mexican plates vehicles. Thanks in Advance !

I believe that if you have the bike on a trailer with you and the car, the bike is put on the car permit. Otherwise, it is treated as a separate vehicle.

There is an engine size limit. I'm not sure if it is 250cc, but if it is bigger than the size limit, it is a second vehicle and cannot be brought in by the same person.

When I brought my 1000cc motorcycle in it was on a trailer and everything, the trailer, the truck, and the motorcycle all went on the same permit. Of course that was 8 years ago so it could have changed.

Thanks for the info, The bike I want to bring down is 1000cc. I'll do some more research on the trailer MC angle.

My husband and I brought our Honda Rincon ATV across the border at Laredo last June, pulling it on a trailer with our car. 650cc engine. No problem. The trailer and the ATV are listed on the car's import papers and we are ***told*** that it is possible to take our car back across the border, without the trailer and ATV attached. But the rules are, they must exit the country together.

Once you renew your passport the motorcycle, car, trailer are lost in the system. Of course there is the deposit issue but that may end up just being the cost of doing business. This may be one of those times to get a car permit on-line reducing potential issues at the border. There is no engine size limit on the motorcycle.

Rather than a trailer, there are stands that fit on the back of a vehicle and can hold fairly large motorcycles. A friend brought his 600cc Honda on one and these carrying stands are easy to store and would not be like a trailer having to leave the country. For the OP I am not sure these racks carry a 1000 cc motorcycle but I have seen those that carry 600 pounds. Below is an example. Prices range fro $150 to $350 depending on amount they will carry.
