There's not a cooler place to eat on these warm summer evenings than under the canopy of tall trees at the Peacock Garden Restaurant. They've added some new water features and their gardens are extensive. Watch out for falling ripe mangos!
An added attraction this summer: a baby peacock chick!! Mom and the kid are in a large enclosure near the seating area. The rest of the peacocks were doing fully displays last night, in search of an audience (we were the only customers).
This time of year, their salads really hit the spot. Our fave is the ensalada con camarones....I counted 11 large shrimp on it; a nice greens mix with some avocado, topped with crispy rice noodles and fresh-picked (from their garden) purple garlic flowers. Green goddess type salad dressing served on the side, with some garlic toasts. 85p. Their Caesar salads are good, too, especially when topped with their cold grilled chicken. They offer chauvenet on the cheap (28p I think), and a more drinkable Vino Maipo for 42p a glass. Margaritas are 35p.
For meat eaters: they have a carbón grill going in late afternoons and through the evening. I've eaten the arrachera in the past and it's very good.

It's on the east side of Colon in Ajijic, a block south of the Plaza. Its streetfront doesn't foretell the beauty of the garden setting.
Open Mon. through Sat. from 11 to 9 and on Sunday from 9AM till 7 (serves breakfast on Sundays only...excellent eggs benedict).

A friend and I had lunch there today. The food was very good, the service excellent and it has the nicest ambience in town. I can't wait to return.
Ir is easier to love Mexico than to understand it.

The 9 of us really enjoyed everything about this place and their drink prices are really good. What ambiance and a nice cool place on a hot day. Thanks for telling us about this place. I can't wait to take my hubby back for lunch.
