Thanks for all the advice. In a perfect world I would follow your advice. However, we're in an emergency situation and can't start potty training our cats. Priorities change when you have to watch your back. Please spread the word so our kitties will be fine. Thanks so much in advance.

Not all cats enjoy being inside. We have a kitty/doggie door and ours come and go when they want. The few times we've had to keep them in? Very pissy kitties.

Not everyone understands that to a lot of us an extra $2000 to transport kitties to another country is a deal breaker. I have a feeling that these girls like you...but will adjust to someone else pretty easily. It's different when they've lived indoors all of their lives and depend on their owner for everything.

I know you're in a bind and I do so hope that everything works out well for you. The best I can do for you is if someone is coming up to Memphis or Little Rock...I'll gladly take them. Long shot I know...but who knows? There might be someone coming this way?

Thanks, Cookie. Anyone driving to Memphis and willing to take 2 cats?
Or anyone closer by and willing to give these kitties a chance? They come with about 2 months food supply.
We have about 10 days left...

Surely there is a home somewhere for these cats. It would be such a relief for the owners who have enough on their plate at this time. I'd take them but my 3 dogs probably wouldn't be thrilled.

We havean 18 yr old cat who was always had a cat door and did his pottying outside. When we moved here he stayed with our daughter in a condo using a litterbox. He had no trouble adjusting to being an indoor cat. Six weeks after driving from Seattle I flew up to get him. I figured the plane ride would be less stressful than 6 days in a car. He is now here in Ajijic happy to bea mostly indoor catusing a litterbox. I don't think they will have any problem adjusting tobeing indoor cats as long as they have food, attention and lots of love. Best of luck to you Drumbo.

I think that the older they get the more they appreciate "inside" At least that's the way it's been with our girls. Ms. Fritz at 17 spends way more time lounging indoors than she used to, and Chatty Catty really enjoys the AC as the weather is getting warmer. Of course they know they can go out if they want to.

The kitties started packing because they heard something about a trip next week to a new home on the South shore of the lake... Truth or rumor? Meaw...

When we moved to Tripoli, Libya (this was a long time ago) we took our three year old cats with us. And seven years later we brought them back. And that was just the beginning of their travels. They did just fine!

Thanks, Osuespirit. I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes our cats with us when we move.

osuespirit-revimmingrant: that was subtle but hostile dig. drumbo is an emergency situation. its not about how much of a better cat parent you are. no need to one up someone when they are in a crisis. if i were him, id ask to lock the thread. (i wonder if anyone really really read his first post).

Please listen to manny. If you knew what we know, neither of you would have ever made these hurtful comments. Please, please stop.

thank you peter. people dont listen to others, they are too ego centric to take the time. members: listen when someone speaks, or read their posts carefully. life is not always about "you"! i wanted to visit drumbo, but i was banned here for 2 weeks, couldnt get back to him (byPM, as account was suspended). maybe i am "projecting", or this is not appropriate: but i had a strange feeling when he told me where he lived (maybe unrelated). i know nothing of the personal details, just knew i would not get to meet these people. but i do think they will relocate & it will work out fine. out of respect, lets close topic.

Could we please focus on finding homes for these gatos. These people are bailing for good reason. Apparently the dogs are valued more than the cats. Poor choice, in my opinion. Never the less, the gatos need a new lease on life.

Not a rumor! The cats definitely have a new home in Tizapan El Alto as of this coming week, so they can keep packing!

I confirmed to the kitties that it's not a rumor. They purred so loud that the doggies are wondering what's going on. ;) They're also very thankful to their mommy for allowing them to hang out around the house all this time, because they know that cat allergies can be quite hard to deal with... Thanks for all your support folks, really appreciate it.

Both cats were delivered last Friday to their new home in Tizapan el Alto. They'll have a very nice yard to hang out in and some lovely people to keep company. Thank you very much Maria and others for making this happen!
