Looks like they are still predicting it is going to reverse course before it gets to the coast. Maybe we'll still get a few showers out of it.

I just finished reading the headline story on CNN about Bud. It's a Catagory 2 huricane and it's going to reverse it self? I know they are experts, but if it's all the same, I think I'll keep an eye on it. Needless to say, I hope they're wrong and it's going to drench us for a couple of days. (He said hopefully)

From NOAA this morning

BUD HAS TURNED A BIT TO THE RIGHT AND NOW HAS AN INITIAL MOTION OF
030 DEGREES AT 7 KT. THIS GENERAL HEADING IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE
DURING THE NEXT 2 DAYS...BUT BUD IS EXPECTED TO SLOW DOWN AND
BECOME NEARLY STATIONARY NEAR OR JUST OFF THE MEXICAN COAST. THE
TRACK GUIDANCE IS IN GOOD AGREEMENT DURING THIS PERIOD WITH NO
SIGNIFICANT OUTLIERS. THERE IS MORE DISAGREEMENT AFTER 48 HOURS...
WITH THE HWRF AND GFDL ACCELERATING BUD TO THE NORTH...THE GFS
BRINGING THE HURRICANE SLOWLY INLAND...AND THE ECMWF TURNING IT
TOWARD THE WEST-SOUTHWEST. IN FAVOR OF CONTINUITY FROM PREVIOUS
FORECASTS...THE NEW NHC FORECAST IS CLOSE TO THE ECMWF SOLUTION AND
STILL SHOWS BUD GETTING PRECARIOUSLY CLOSE TO THE MEXICAN COAST ON
DAY 3.

DUE TO FORECAST TRACK AND INTENSITY UNCERTAINTIES...THERE IS STILL A
POSSIBILITY THAT HURRICANE-FORCE WINDS COULD REACH THE COAST ON
SATURDAY. DEPENDING ON SUBSEQUENT FORECASTS...A HURRICANE WARNING
COULD BE REQUIRED FOR A PORTION OF THE SOUTHWESTERN COAST OF MEXICO
LATER TODAY.

Mad Max
Are you going mad. All this abbreviations means diddly to me. What in general are you trying to say.

Those abbreviations are for the different predictive models used to guesstimate the track. They are saying that they are still going with the models that have the storm reversing course although a number of the other models do not agree.

I'm not a weather forecaster but to me it looks like we will be getting rain from all the moisture being spun off.

The meteorologists suggest there's some wind shear coming in from the Gulf of Mexico that might push Bud enough to keep the center offshore and push it to the southwest instead of continuing northwest, but that doesn't mean we won't see rain - just means we might not see as much as we are all hoping for. All very iffy for now. Waiting to read what the Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter plane reveals after it makes its foray into the storm this afternoon.

The hurricane hunting AF plane is still gathering data, but the forecast now shows Bud reaching the coast at Hurricane force level (@#@%!) and is now forecast to be heading northeast and north, weakening of course as it crosses the mountains. Mexico has issued a coastal hurricane warning from Manzanillo south to Cabo Corrientes. Gravy, you now can take a short break in the rain dance!
