This afternoon the phone rang and the caller ID showed up as (01) 555-992-4500. I answered and a man asked if I spoke Spanish. I do, but I said no. He then spoke English to me with a Mexican accent. I asked who this is and he said his name was John and he was doing a survey. He did not identify a company. I asked him who he was calling. He had my name correct. Being cautious, I said there's no one here by that name. He said thank you and hung up.

Have you ever had a call like this? Do you know any more about these calls? With all that's been going on for quite a while, I don't take calls like this.

Yup. Dish TV and Telmex. Now you might never know if was a promotion of theirs or not. We got a good deal after installing Dish TV from one of their calls for a 6 months extension after the initial 3 months free premium movie channels for a few dollars a month.

yes, besides the "usual" telemarketing calls from banks trying to sell insurances, now, we have surveys to know the political trends in the population. just write the No. and when you see it listed in the Tel. identifier, do not answer, we now know the Nos. from the banks, from american express, also the new security systems store, is doing telemarketing, argh! it is a pain in the neck! also never answer "llamada privada" some of them come from banks too, but we never know.....

All you need is love....

I find my little answering machine the best investment I ever made, I never answer the phone - almost, and especially if I don't recognize the number.
