Seems that price (cheap) is the determining factor for far too many people and they'll simply eat almost anything and put up with lousy service and............that's sad!

We have had really good experiences at Robertos during their twofers but not this time. The food wasn't awful but wasn 't abundant but the service gets an F. We won't be going back at this point. The experience wasn't worth repeating. Maybe things will calm down or more waiters will be brought in or?????

One has to sincerely hope that the owners of local restaurants (and, of late the butcher store comments that have infiltrated this site) take the time to read these comments about their restaurants/businesses. From what I've read in the past few days about Roberto's I would not want to risk wasting yet another evening on a far less than satisfactory dining experience. I have come to value the comments concerning our local restaurants and find myself more and more frequently making others aware of this website so that they can also have at least some small warning as to what they might encounter. Not all, but many restaurants here at Lakeside are terribly managed and the owners seem to have blinders on. Some restaurants don't appear to have any supervision at all! Confusion seems to reign. As an example, if one carefully reviews the restaurant advertisements in the newly arrived edition of Ojo del Lago you'll likely agree that a good portion of the "confusion" starts there!

I, too, value the comments from reliable posters regarding the quality of the food and its preparation in some of restaurants. I'd really like to know, though, what you mean about the restaurant ads in the Ojo as a basis of some confusion. Poor ad copy, misleading info?

Exactly: Take a look at the advertisement in both the Reporter and the Ojo for Los Telares. Look at Tango's adv. in the Ojo......Are they now going to be open on Tuesdays? Look at La Taverna's adv....What's that supposed to mean?

Most of these places don't like to advertise in the first place. They figure all they need is good word of mouth. The $40 or $50 or $100 (dollars) a month seems to them to be a waste of money. And because we have two monthly magazines and one weekly paper, they are approached from all sides, with each publication suggesting different things. And one example of not really giving much cohesive thought to their ads: two months ago a local place started a steak special.

While the owner was working out the details for an ad, a waiter came over and mentioned that if anyone ordered water with the special, they would have to be charged for it, and so that should probably go in the ad. (The thinking being, specifically, that the kinds of gringos that come for cheap specials won't want to spend any extra on drinks, and so a drink rule should be enforced or they would all go broke... this thinking is oh-so-wrong on oh-so-many levels.) Hours went by as the topic consumed discussion. He finally was convinced this wouldn't help business much, and if they couldn' make money on the special, either can the special or raise the price. But whatever, don't put anything in the ad about it (how would they have worded that anyway?).

By the time the ad discussion came up for the Ojo just a bit later, the whole concept had changed again.
