A biscuit colored cocker spaniel just wander onto my property while the gate was open. I don't know if it's a male or female but he/she is fairly old, wet and tired. PM me if you know anything about this dog. Thanks.......

I checked the spaniel again and he/she is not starving ( a little bit overweight ), fur very matted and dirty.

It might be helpful if people know the approximate area you are in.

I am in Riberas but because of the dogs condition, it has obviously been roaming awhile so didn't want to restrict the post to a specific area. Animals can cover quite a distance in a few days.

Or, it belongs to someone who isn't taking very good care of it and is allowed to roam or took itself for a walk. I found an English Cocker, or maybe he is a Clumber Spaniel, that was in terrible shape but later the local woman who was watching him took him back. She is watching him for someone who is in California right now and when the owner is here, he is well loved, cared for and groomed once a month. The person "caring" for him has kept him tied up outside with a short rope, doesn't feed him and he looks like a filthy street dog. I hope I find the owner when she gets back so I can let her know how her dog was treated.

We can't possibly know what the poor thing has been through. He/she is afraid of humans and wouldn't eat or drink until I moved several feet away. I will wait for a couple of days and if I don't find the owner I will have Dr. Pepe take a look at him/her and have his wife clean the dog up. I just hate to expose him/her to too much right now. He/She is very nervous.

It might be a lucky dog who escaped from abuse if it is that frightened. Hopefully it will find a loving home to make up for what it's been through.

It's also a sign of a street dog. If no owner is found and the dog gets groomed I imagine he/she will soon have a new home in short order. Good luck and thanks for helping this poor animal.

Update on Cocker Spaniel. She has been with me for almost 2 weeks and yesterday Dr. Pepe brought the owner of the spaniel to my house to pick up her dog. The owner was in tears. I hope everyone is happy.............especially the dog. She is a sweetie!

You can't assume because a dog is very shy or skitterish that he/she is abused. My dog is very wary around new people and things but extremely well taken care of and loved very much. He is just a naturally shy guy.
