We're house-sitting in Mirasol and the main internet source seems to be down...or at least I'd like to find out if it is or if we have an issue with a device.

The family (I think) has 2 internet services and the ADSL version seems to be down, but the cable one is working (I've got it plugged in directly to a laptop).

I was hoping someone could give me some feedback as to whether your internet in Mirasol is working this morning or not. Ours went out last night, probably around 9:30-10:30pm. I've done all the basics of resetting the devices, unplugging them, making sure connections are solid, etc.

I'm going to try hooking this working one up to the wireless router, but would appreciate any insight as to whether it might just be "us" or the service itself. And I can't get in touch with the owners (they're in Guatemala) and have no idea how to even call to notify someone of the outage.

Thanks

I haven't had any problems with my internet today. I have Telmex Infinitum. I was on it this morning between 8-9 AM.

Yes I climbed in the telephone post and unhooked the telephone wires and reconnected it this morning as it was off since last night.

I resetted the Modem several times and it eventually came back on its own................

Too many bobos on the line :):):)

I have been in Mirasol for nearly 6 months and it seems to be a problem with the lines. But it usually only go on and off for a few minutes.

We finally got our back late morning and then having TERRIBLY slow speeds. It is the infinitium that has been painfully slow. Thankfully, it's running through the router now and sending out some signal, but it has been rough.

I appreciate your response Sheldon and RevImmigrant. I wonder if more people would have responded, but their internet was too slow! :)

Well, it was certainly spotty service all over today. Villa Alta, parts of Riberas, San Antonio, just sort of around. And interestingly, each of the places reporting power interruptions and downed Internet service have had... three of them that I've been to... Telecable guys in the neighbourbood making a complete mess of things.

Hmmm...so are the Telecable guys tampering with the Telmex lines to encourage people to "jump ship" to their service? Sounds like a conspiracy theory. :) But that does explain why the service has been bad. Nothing like some folks messing with wires to jumble things up. :)

I have lived in Mirasol for almost 5 years and since getting hooked up after 2 weeks we have never really had any problems except when we switched to Telecable for 2 weeks. Telmex always have worked for us.

Remember doberwoman, it depends upon where you live. I have had all three services lakeside. (Oh, I always have two ISPs) By far the most stable where I live in upper Ajijic is infinitum. (but it is certainly not the fastest).

Infinitium should be renamed "In-fits-it-comes" because we're having fits over the slow speed today! Not good for a husband who has to do internet teaching. I think the wireless router is making it worse. The download speed is not even 2Mbps and I know this house has at least the 5Mbps plan. :017:

Infinitum was off all Wednesday and Thursday morning in Riberes on the lakeside, Called Wednesday, they insisted it was y wire on the computer, I insisted it was in their equipment. They finally checked, said it was the server and worked on it. Last September it was off for almost two weeks. Of course I was working on a paper this week when it went off.
Very slow now, taking at least a minute a word! Don't know if reporting is worth it.

I live in upper Riberas. Our internet, Infinitum, was out Wednesday for HOURS, and I wasn't able to get Telmex on their 800 number. I went over to the Telmex office in Ajijic and was told that they were working on the system in Riberas and it would be working later Wednesday afternoon. It seems to be working fine Friday morning.
