I'm in the middle of my FM3 renewal. Did the online check today and was given this as the status:

El trámite ha sido clasificado (The procedure has been classified)

Not sure stage that indicates.

I'd appreciate some assistance.

Thanks

Looks like the process is progressing normally and your application has been received, assigned, and filed. Next you should receive a message to show up at the INM office (presumably Chapala). From a recent posting on the board, here is a sample of the sequence of messages received and for more detail, search on the webboard for chapala immigration:

El trámite ha sido registrado - Delegación Local Rivera de Chapala
El tramite ha sido asignado - Delegación Local Rivera de Chapala
El trámite ha sido clasificado - Delegación Local Rivera de Chapala
Presentarse en una oficina del INM - Delegación Local Rivera de Chapala
Se permite el pre registro en línea de su información - Delegación Local Rivera de Chapala
Un pago ha sido registrado - Delegación Local Rivera de Chapala

I too could not figure out by what the website said if my FM3 was ready. I'm fluent in spanish. After 4 weeks I decided to go in today and ask. I went to the chapala office around 11am. There was no one waiting in line. I just walked up with my receipt. They told me it was ready. Even though the website had not told me so.

They told us 10 days, I didn't even check and I waited 10 working days and it was ready.

I will be out of the cocuntry when my FM3 expires.
I want to get it renewed before I leave.
Does anyone know how many days one can apply to have it renewed before it actually expires?
Also: Where in Chapala is the inmigracion office?

You can begin the process 30 days before the expiration date. File out the proper forms at INM.gob.mx and take them with photos to the INM office on Hildago just past the Ace Hardware store on your way into Chapala. If you don't know how to start the process on the internet, go to Spenser's office and they will do everything for you for a very reasonable price.
