blondie Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I am trying to make my own lowfat cocoa and have a recipe that calls for Dry Milk Powder and unsweetened cocoa powder. Does anyone know if there are Mexican brands of both of these items and if so where I can find them? If you have at least seen the imported Dry Milk Powder somewhere let me know that, although a Mexican brand of both items would be far less costly. Thanks for your assistance. Blondie
miomama Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I buy my dry milk powder at Soriana, but I am sure it is available at walmart and superlake. If you want fat free, try Nestle Svelty it comes various sizes. I have also seen lactose free powder by Alpura. So you have lots of options. I buy my unsweeten cocoa powder at Mama Coneja the abastos in Guad.
Shira Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I buy my unsweetened cocoa at Gallina Feliz across the street from the abastos.
MtnMama Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 I am not 100% sure, but I think I have seen cocoa powder at the little kitchen tienda next to Gossip's restaurant. I expect she will bring you some if they don't already carry it.
Ginger Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 MtnMama is correct. Unsweetened cocoa powder is at the store next to Gossip's. I saw it there today.
blondie Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 Thank you all for your help. Where is Gossip's located and then I will check at the little store for the cocoa powder. Many thanks to all of you!
Ginger Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Thank you all for your help. Where is Gossip's located and then I will check at the little store for the cocoa powder. Many thanks to all of you! Across from the Ajijic Clinic on the Carretera (lake side.)
lakeheron Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 I really like Svelty brand of powdered milk. It's called Svelty Total Digest. It is lactose free, supposedly has probiotics and is fat free. I get it in large green cans at Costco but you can buy it locally too.
artsnob Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Some times they have at the store across from Clinica Ajijic, if she is out , she will bring it in next day from other store...
