As a resident of Chapala Haciendas I am more concerned about not being informed by the Board of Directors here at the Fracc of the many armed break ins that have occurred in the last several weeks.

They send out a security Bulletin that does not tell any of us the information necessary to be aware of what is happening, so that we may be more observant of our surroundings. The bulletin also said to "Take note of workers near by or that cruise your street with frequency. Ask them where they are working and for whom." This was a very dangerous and stupid idea to give people. They have been given many common sense suggestions and ideas and seem to ignore them.

If you give the residents information relating to the incident, such as, day, street, time, how they entered, description of robbers and if available the vehicle used, maybe another break in could be averted. We are not asking for the names of the victims, what was stolen or even the address, just the basic info to better be more aware.

This past Thursday morning, two men with guns came in from the mountain side and robbed a couple. This past Friday night a neighbor was walking and noticed two well dressed men walking around the Pajaro de Fuego/Chambergo section of CH and observed them looking over doorways, under planters, apparently looking for a key. The neighbor went to another neighbors house and they called the police. I do not know the outcome. The point is, none of this was reported to us residents. Many are not even aware of it.

We have two empty security guard stations at entrance 1 and 2 - they do not activiely demand that residents use the CH vehicle window stickers, that would easily identify a resident or a worker of the theirs. We have been told to look at Lakeside crime watch and to look at another Fracc's website for security information. We have a website that they under utilize - it seems that hardcopy handouts to residents has stopped.

We hear that they are working on something, but according to another resident "he is not at liberty to say". What the heck does that mean? Keep us in the dark and pretty much tell us to take care of ourselves. O.K. we as residents can do much of the personal security for ourselves, but we could do a much better job if this Board at least had the common sense and consideration to let us know of the incidents they have info on. Many residents here are on limited budgets and do not have the money to pay for a personal security system. Supposedly they are scheduling a meeting for February. This is something that should have been done after the first gun related break in, approximately two months ago. What are they waiting for?

To keep the residents uninformed is just plain irresponsible and shows a lack of leadership.

And isn't there a reward fund for violent crimes here? Why was a reward not offered for the last robbery in Chapala Haciendas? Wouldn't that in itself be a deterrent?

GeorgiaPeach, I would think that the best method for dealing with this would be to go to a board meeting yourself. Even better, get some of your neighbors to go with you.

We have been to Board meetings here, as have our neighbors. Nothing works, there are defensive attitudes taken, suggestions and comments ignored. This is not something new. Transparency does not exist here with this Board. I have been at meetings and have witnessed screaming and yelling and even laughing at someone. Good idea, if you had people that were willing to listen and take advice, but you do not. Many of us have tried over and over again to help, but it does not make a difference. Many residents are just sick and tired and have given up.

The situation is serious and should be taken serious by this Board. Betsy's idea of the reward is a great one, maybe one of the Board members will actually see it here on chapala.co, and maybe take it to that level.

Someone must have a copy of the By Law.s Get a copy and read what is required for a special or emergency meeting and potentially a special election. Hopefully competent members put your original by-laws together. If there are no provisions for a speccial meeting gather a group of likeminded neighbors and put together a petition to the board for a speial meeting providng the board with an agenda which includes the issues you want discussed.

if this does not work, call a general meeting of residents yourself by selecting a date, place and time and notify the Board.of the meeting. Distribute flyers with this info to all residents of the frac. The purpose of the meeting should be stated as a recall of board members. This should get the board's attention. As a former Alinnsky trained community organizer, I can assure you that you can get some action. If you need more information or other ideas to take action you can pm me.

easy! all the neighborghood get a meeting, select new board members, then a comitee just to deal with security matters. If the board of directors apparently do nothing, ok, people needs results, so get a new personnel.....maybe, you need to have a manager to deal with all the work to do, of course you will have to pay for all that, but security is the main....good luck!

All you need is love....
