A friend and I were in Guadalajara yesterday and had lunch at Italatto's. It's on Lopez Mateos Sur on a corner across from a Pemex station on the same side of the street a few blocks before Las Fuentes going towards the Periferico.

We both had fusilli putanesca. It was a fairly large portion loaded with sliced black olives and caper berries in the sauce, which was northern Italian style. We had to ask for extra sauce since the pasta didn't have enough for our tastes. It was served with a good-textured bread; the waiter put olive oil, then added some balsamic vinegar and crushed red pepper on a plate for dipping the bread. It was very good. I think it came with a salad bar, but neither of us had it. The pasta was delicious. We both drank tea, which was originally served with no ice in the glass even though we ordered te helado so we asked for ice. The pasta was $82 pesos for each portion.

We enjoyed this restaurant and the food and will defnitely go back.

This is way south past that one. It's a few blocks before Las Fuentes not more than 1-2 miles before the Periferico. It's on the right side of the street heading south.

Does Il Pomodoro have outside seating?

No. IThe food is excellent. They have a good salad bar that comes with the meal. Their prices are very reasonable.

If you are heading towards Jocotopec on Lopez Mateos just beyond the Walmart-Mega complex try Las Gavilanes. It is a lamb restaurant. Their lamb ribs are fantastic. The white crossover bridge ends in their parking lot.

Il Pomodoro is located at Lopez Mateo and Morelos. We dined there Saturday night. While we enjoyed the place and the service, the food was uninspired and bland. The pizza I ordered had the best crust of any I've had in Mexico, but the tomato sauce was boring and needed some Italian seasonings. My partner had the lasagna and made similar comments. Of course the usual bottle of salsa picante was on the table but Mexican Chile sauce is not the way to spice up Italian food.
