Volunteers Needed

Thanks to the dedication of many people working 12 months a year the Feria Maestros del Arte is celebrating its 10th Anniversary at the Chapala Yacht Club this November 18th, 19th and 20th. This year will be a very special event that will bring together more than eighty (80) artisans from all over Mexico to showcase their work.
As you are probably aware, the Feria not only provides a place for these artisans to sell their work at no charge to them but the Feria also provides accommodations for the artisans while they are here at Lake Chapala.
One of the rewards for living here is the opportunity to get to know an artisan better by sharing your home for the few nights they are here. If you or someone you know would volunteer to provide housing for a Mexican artisan who will arrive at Lakeside for the Feria Maestros del Arte this November, you can help to continue the success the Feria has had for the last nine years. Perhaps you are thinking you don’t have a “casita” so you can’t volunteer to host an artist but that is not the case. All you need is room where they can sleep and a bathroom so they can clean up. Chances are you know someone that has hosted in past years and have enjoyed having the artists as guests in their home.
These artisans travel from the far reaches of Mexico and their beautiful and unique art is surpassed only by their appreciation of your hospitality. This is a great opportunity to have an exchange of culture with the people of our host country… and its lots of fun!
Do you have a spare room available for three nights or know someone that does?
The Feria will provide you with all the information you need to be a host. It really is easy and our Hosting Coordinator, Maria Jordan will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Please contact her by phone at 766-2342 or by email at mariajordan@prodigy.net.mx. You will make new friendships and create wonderful memories. Oh, by the way, it is NOT necessary to speak Spanish.
