Just wondering, are there any groups that get together around the Lake to freshen up on languages? Interested chatting in either Dutch, Italian, or French.

Sadly most persons here speak only one language, and if they speak another it is a smattering of Esp. One way to keep up your Dutch would be to subscribe to the Telecable HD digital package. I'm not sure why, but HD channel 750 often has Dutch and German movies subtitled into Esp. I'm so rusty at NL that I can not understand that much, anymore. It's been some 45 years since I moved from the Netherlands to Bavaria.

There are some exceptions though who speak great Spanish, like Intercasa; but sadly there are not that many. I know my Spanish has a lot to be desired.

there are speakers of french and dutch here. they have a french club that used to meet once a month and drew as many as 60 people from as far away as guadalajara. roland who used to sell real estate was a participant. or go to zebra jewelry on colon in ajijic and talk to daniel or carmen as they are from the nederlands...and if you cannot find a group, make one of your own.

There are German people here. And, Daniel and Carmen are no longer here, they returned to Europe last month. I am not sure how to get in touch with Roland for French, but probably someone on this board will be able to help.

The German-speakers meeting is listed in the back of the "Ojo" in the section that lists meetings of the various organizations.

Gina, what state are you from? I lived in both Brandenburg and Hessen. My German is very basic and very poor (and not getting better here either), but I can still read Fraktur.
