We have incoming people over Semana Santa/Pasqua and our car isn't big enough for everyone. Need something that can hold six people total, including the driver. Checked at S&S and they didn't have anything appropriate. Checked at Sunset Rentacar and blanched at the daily cost of a Minivan. Will probably only really need it for a few days during their stay for a trip into Tlaquepaque.....maybe a drive around the lake, etc. Haven't checked rates from the agencies at the airport to see if they cost less. Anybody have experience with that? If not....

Other ideas? Anybody want to rent me their vehicle?

I'm a very good driver. I swear. Just ask my 15-year-old Honda.

Get on the web and book a van at one of the major agencies at the airport. Either that or hire a van and driver.

I would check with Mark Turford. He's a realtor with Absolut Fenix in Ajijic. He has a fleet of cars and maybe a van.

Franciso (Pancho) Miramontes 766-1142 / Cell: 045-333-157-8060 . Excellent drivers with several cars and at least one van, good English.

Thanks everyone. Yes, Francisco is fluent in our address for those 4-5 a.m. airport runs when I refuse to drive people. ("I didn't book your flight...") And yes, of course I'll check the airport rental rates. I'm just seeing if there's a creative work-around....so....I especially appreciate the idea about Mark Turford. Will look into that.

Or maybe our friends have a less favorite kid we can stick in the trunk.

Of course I'm kidding!

Any other options/suggestions much appreciated.

Mark does have a van he rents but he rented it to friends of mine who will be using it for at least another 2 weeks, maybe he has a 2nd one.

Want the wagoneer? Kids in the way back, that's the way we did it on the islands. You don't have PM on this.

By the time you consider the additional costs of a conventional rental, such as insurance coverages, and the hassle of pick up and drop off, it might be better to use a driver with a large vehicle. I know there are a variety of vans and Suburbans around, but don't know who operates them. Maybe check with the various tour operators, such as Charter Club, or a couple of the hotels or B&B's for suggestions.
