Hello everyone I wanted to get some feed back from you all.
I wanted to move to Chapala in the next few months,
My background is automotive, maintenance and repair I have my own business in California.
My plans were to possibly open an Automotive Maintenance and repair, in the Ajijic area
Offering the best in customer service and at the same time taking care of your vehicle, with great prices.
I visit Chapala twice a year and when I'm there I personally survey the existing shops, unfortunatle as you all know
my experience is limited to yours.
Will anyone out there help me with this matter is this a business worth of opening, in the area
servicess ofered are as follows
Lube oil filter
Radiator flush and fill
Transmission services --inc replacements
Engine flushes
Fuel system service
Differential service
Air filters replacements
Tire rotations
Radiator service and replacements
and so on
your comments are all welcome good and bad, I'm not looking to ripp any one off I just want to continue in my line of work in a place I can afford to live in with out worrying if the government will come up with new business laws as they do here.
Thank you to all whom take part in helping me.

If you are not a Mexican citizen or have Inmigrado status, you will have to jump through some hoops to have a legal business. Good luck.

Also, do you want to work for $ 150 - $ 200 pesos an hour ($11.85 - $15.80 USD) an hour? And pay your workers $ 45 - $ 60 pesos an hour.

Don't do it.
It ain't worth it, from my observation of how little they get if the work is done well.

your right and thank you for your input, greatly appreciated.
I know of two Expats here which do mechanic work. One has a ligit business the other kinda works from word of mouth. I have used both and sometimes it's refreshing at times to have someone in English to get opinions and explain well. However I have my truck in the shop right now getting the AC ready for summer at my favorite Mexican mechanic.
I think there would be a need for your business. Many Expats have opened business here. Some are still in business.

It would be tough but if you actually did a fast oil change and service and answered your phone and paid the bill you'd be years ahead of the competition.
Mexicans don't return calls and if you had someone answer the phone and people could bring their cars in and be out in 15 to 20 minutes it could work but you'd have to invest alot of money first to do it right.
