Would anyone recommend someone they have used who is an experienced, reliable property manager (not too expensive) to come in once or twice a week to pay the maid and gardener, check the house and arrange for any repairs if needed, for a 6-month period from mid-April to mid-October. English speaking needed so they can communicate back to us in Canada via phone and email.

I second the recommendation of Veronica. You could also get a house sitter for no payment per month instead of about $75USD per month. You, of course, have to do due diligence to make that happen. Lots of people go this way, though, so you may want to restate the question to look for an experienced, referenced house sitter available for your time period.
