Need a recommendation for someone to fumigation indoor and outdoors to get rid of the ticks that have now populated my yard and house - and my dogs. All the do it yourself stuff doesn't seem to help - They appeared about 3 weeks ago with gusto - start of the rain!

We have always used the people across from the Pemex. Back in the states in NJ mad.gif mad.gif Lymes disease heaven, I kept the dogs on something monthly that killed them when they got on the dog (before they bit) . Revolution here. On the yard I used diazinon which seemed to keep them away. You can buy that here. This was wooded country lot. No chemical people nearby borrowed the neighbor's chickens to come "graze" the property and eat the ticks!!

pemex ajijic or chapala?

I use Revolution too - seems to kill them at some point after they dig in for lunch/dinner - I tried lawn defense outside - home defense inside etc. May have reduced the number - but sure hasn't stopped them.

I've thought about spraying outside, but worry about harming the dogs. They run on the grass, then lick their paws, sometimes eat the grass as well.

We've used Rosa across from the Libramiento Pemex. Her guy does a great job. You'll have to ask if they have something for ticks.

You need to kill the ticks on the dogs, and at the same time do a thorough cleaning in areas where the dogs sleep or lie around. Frontline works very well. The ticks here we had one experience with (that was enough!) were dog ticks. They don't feed on humans, and are canine specific. When the ticks have fed enough on blood and the females are ready to reproduce, they crawl behind furniture, up walls to the ceiling, etc. Just about anywhere, and you need to get every last one of them gone plus have the Frontline on your dogs for the next couple of months. We've never had another problem.

If Frontline is availaible that works great. Keeps the ticks off the dogs. I live in SE Missouri and the ticks here are rampant. I'm on doxycyclene now because I have the lyme disease symptoms. I was hoping there were none in Ajijic.

Miserable things!

What symptoms are you having? I have 6 dogs in Georgia. We hike in the woods daily, but I use Frontline Plus religiously on them and have had very few ticks or fleas. Been using it for years. But I had a bullseye bite-looking thing; could've been a spider. My doc will do blood titer in a month, as that's how long he says it takes to incubate. He doesn't think the bite is from a tick - but it looks like a bullseye to me.........the good news is that not all deer ticks are infected with Lymes, and not every human who gets sucked on by an infected tick gets Lymes. I hope yours gets better soon and I hope I don't have it!

They are out of stock (pesticide for ticks) - Any other suggestions for an inside/outside fumigator?

(Don't need recommendation for revolution etc - as they are on it - washed dogs with asuntol - etc - plus they like me too - and nothing seems to stop these critters. And no I don't have tall grass etc)

You may have to get a flock of chickens, after all.

At this point, I might be interested in rent-a-chicken for a day or two:)

Chickens eat scorpions too. Maybe we could start a community flock. rolleyes.gif

If Frontline doesn't work for you, you might try Advantix--Advantage gets fleas--the "tix" on the end gets ticks, too. They sell it at the animal shelter in Riberas. It is for fleas and ticks. Until this year, I haven't had any problems with ticks so discontinued using the Advantix. But this year, I'm going to have to start using it again.

I didn't have the bullseye either, but decided to just do the regimen on doxy anyway. It's cheap and not dangerous. All my joints were hurting. Better safe than sorry. I don't know about humans but the test for lyme on dogs is not always accurate, so why take the chance.

Used to have problems with scorpions, cucarachas, etc. We now use Cynoff - rotating one month inside, next month outside. It has to be sprayed. You can use it on your walkways and on the plants. Whether it is inside or out - you must keep your animals away until it is dry. 2 to 4 hours.

Out Vet recommended Cynoff and have been using it for 5 years without a problem to the animals or our plants. It can be purchased at any hardware store. Normally 40p per pack.

Good Luck.
