Hi All,

I'm coming to Ajijic in search of a rental on April 2nd. I need a recommendation for a hotel or a B&B for about 5 days. Need something central where I can walk. No car. Any ideas?

Thanks,
KBris

La Estrellita Inn on 16 de Septiembre, almost next door to the Lake Chapala Society, would be a good place to start. It is lovely and you can walk to everything easily from there:

We like staying at Mis Amores. It's 1/2 a block from the plaza in Ajijic. www.misamores.com

I enjoyed my stay at Ajijic Suites Hotel last December. It feels like a B&B--but no breakfast. It's 2 1/4 blocks east of Ajijic town square on Hidalgo Street. Only 8 units/suites that cost $40 or $50/night--inexpensive for Ajijic. The place was redecorated only 6 to 9 months old. Free Wifi and long distance calls to North America. Very helpful managers. It's only 4 blocks from Roberto's and Ajijic Tango--gee, where do I eat tonight?? rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Oops--Ajijic Suites rates are $45 and $55, not $40 and $50. They have an apartment for $65. Sorry for my error. blink.gif

Casita Montana is a medium priced B&B right at the main intersection of town. Easy to catch buses to anywhere.

Another vote for Estrellitas. The location is very quiet...well away from any downtown noise, but easy walking distance.

The trouble with anything on the main drag is the very noisy trucks.

Casa Blanca Hotel is directly across the street from Estrellitas. Very nice. My mom and sister stayed there in mid-February and they were very happy with it. Joseph, the owner, is a real sweetheart and goes way out of his way to be helpful. Ask about their shuttle service where they will pick you up at the Guad airport and take you back when you leave. Enjoy Ajijic! Casa Blanca Hotel, Ajijic

We've stayed at Casa del Sol several times. The location is great, only one block from the carretera and three blocks from the Ajijic plaza.
Breakfast is wonderful, and have enjoyed meeting all the people I have met there.

Yes, Casa del Sol is wonderful! Great rooms, breakfasts and public areas; nice happy hour, too. In fact, we met Pete and his wife there over a year ago and since then both of us couples have bought houses at Lakeside.

I agree with all of the posters. Lots of great choices. check out the websites. The only one that I disagree with is Casita Monatana from Janey. I looked at it for clients that were flying down for a week. You will be living in a basement.. The rooms are delightful, the owner, Anne Dwyer is delightful, the location is exceptional, but you will be living in the basement. Nice rooms, but you are living in the basement. Sorry, Janey I disagree with your recommendation.

I agree that Estrallita is the place to stay.
Ir is easier to love Mexico than to understand it.
