What with all the fancy-schmancy restaurants in town now - Manuel's, 4, Ajijic Tango, Roberto's etc. (which we have enjoyed greatly), my darling and I have decided that we're going to frequent the old restaurants in town on a more regular basis. We have noticed that the clients have fallen off in a few of them. Our recent visits:

Armando's on Ocampo Privado - had one of the best caeser salads we've ever had; great service
Tio Domingo's on far west Ocampo - of course, the best chiles rellenos around, and the owner is always a treat
Piccolo's - western careterra restaurant group; good pizza, warm outside dining due to new oven

... any other suggestions of older restaurants that you'd suggest? What's your favorite?

Armando's is awesome. Best resturant Lakeside in my opinion. Excellent atmosphere and service. Definately the place to take your sweetie for a romantic dinner.

Armando's is a hidden gem. His food is good as he cooks himself. It's very romantic or nice to take your guests to. One of his specialties is Fish and another is Filet Mignon in Mustard sauce. He does a flambe dessert which impresses everyone.

Oldies but consistent good food/service .....

hmmmmm

The Nueva Posada is charming, great onion soup and I love their Chicken & penne with Poblano sauce.

I also like Jose's Illusion ..... don't know how old it is, but it predates my arrival, so I consider it old ! Moussaka is delicious.

Super Burrito, upper Ajijic for great Sopa Azteca on a cold night!

Vicki's Hideaway, funky bar with great food, especially if you are a LIVER LOVER ... great ribs too!

The Red Lobster in Melaque. Do not confuse with the chain from the States. I have not had lobster to ring bells in Mexico. This is the best I have eaten in Mx. Not the best in the world. Just real good for Mexico. I got 4 medium sized lobster a little over a kilo. 300 pesos. This is a meal for two.

If you visit there do try.

I will be going back Saturday. I just made this trip back here for those KK donuts.
