The Shelter has a very, very sweet 18 month old American bulldog named "Lilly"who was brought in on Saturday by a vet student from Guadalajara. The student vet had rescued the dog twice from homes that weren't giving Lilly the care that she needs to thrive and flourish.
Lilly is a nearly pure white lady and is extremely sensitive to the sun. She really needs to stay inside or only go outside into a very shady area. She's been diagnosed with solar dermatits and is now recovering from the last uncaring owner. Her feet and the insides of her legs are very red (over exposure to the sun), but with lots of TLC, she should completely recover. She's currently on a hypoallergenic diet (lamb), but that's not really necessary.
Even with everything that Lilly's been through, she's one of the friendliest and trusting dogs you'll meet. She loves to hop into your lap to give you big, sloppy doggy kisses. If you're interested in being this dog's Christmas angel, please see the nice folks at the dog side of the Animal Shelter in Riberas.

P.S. I have no clue as to how to add a picture to this, so if you're interested, please e-mail me and I'll be happy to send you a photo. (britkennels@msn.com).

Do I have it on the webpage? If not, send me a picture and I'll try to get it posted at some point. I'm leaving tomorrow at 0600 until the 15th.

I have a male American Bull Dog. If someone adopts. I would love a puppy. BTW mine is pure blood. With papers. These make super guard dogs. They look like Pit Bulls but better personality.

Does she know stay out of the sun, or does she need to be kept out of the sun?
Probably a bit of both, although it's really a guess since there's not much info on her past (other than what I've already posted). She wouldn't be able to go out on long walks or be kept outside for long periods (unless there was plenty of shade). The best situation would be for her to be a house dog (and she'd be just as effective as a watchdog from the inside as she would be from the outside).

Lilly is still available and...great news!...she's recovering a lot faster than expected. Her skin (inside leg) is pink now, not red, and she's really fun to play with. Today she was in the office of the Shelter and was bouncing up and down as she played. She's very gentle and just loves being around people and other dogs.

I was there yesterday and she was still there. I hope someone will adopt her soon.

Bump
(Thanks to everyone for their patience with me on bumping this a few times. Lilly is still available, looking really good, and is one of the happiest dogs I've ever seen. She'd be a GREAT Christmas present for someone...hint, hint!)

Ditto, on this post. I visited Lilly. It was hard not to take here home. I have an American Bull dog. They are very rare in Mexico. They make excellent watch dogs and great companions.
