kgreenbury
In the absence of an affordable source of candied fruit like you get NOB, is it possible to use the Ate as a substitute or would the heat melt it down and ruin the texture? I'm looking ahead to Xmas fruit cake.
cooper
Candied fruit is easily obtained in Guadalajara.
More Liana
Ate would probably melt. Cooper is right, fruta cristalizada (candied fruit) is readily available in Guadalajara. You will find pineapple, mango, orange, figs, and other fruits. One of the lesser-known is biznaga (a kind of cactus), which is absolutely delicious. luisa
I've always found a good variety at Superlake. I imagine that the spice store would also carry it. I'll look for biznaga this year.
