The Tiny Dot???

Snafu

Recommended Posts

I recently watched “The Tiny Dot”, just a few minutes on Youtube. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6b70TUbdfs

The timing of watching it coincided with the Moderator takedown of Ferret’s post on Monsanto switching tactics in Mexico from GMO to Hybrid. I found that post quite interesting and relevant to Mexico.

I’m sure we all remember the Moderator takedown of the post about U.S. police stealing any cash they can find on Motorists, including those headed to Mexico.

Our situation with the Moderators is exactly the same as the Tiny Dot with one exception. All the Moderators are at least 95 years old. There’s only 4 or 5 of them and thousands of us. We can take them.

I propose starting a poll to replace the Moderators. Just to throw out a few ideas:

Moderator 1 replaced with MoDeeply (yep, bring him back)

Moderator 2 replaced with Snowyco

Moderator 3 replaced with Cooper

Moderator 4 replaced with Joco

So, whoever knows how to start a poll, get on it, we outnumber them, unless of course the thousands of members listed are now mostly deceased.

Ps: If I don’t post in the next few days, you all will know why.

Interesting choice of candidates.

what are you nuts? i would be banned right away. i may not be crazy about all of the mods here but come on now. wouldnt mind snowyo as a p/t mod, hes open minded. the current mod 2 is also very open minded, leave him here. btw, snafu this IS a privately owned business. it is not a collective. it will not be strong armed by special interest groups. just saying. try TOB, they like this kind of thing.

This is not a democracy. Neither is it a popularity contest. You do not own the board so you do not get to make the rules nor appoint moderators. Looks like your choices are: find a board more to your liking, create your own board or just suck it up, Cupcake.

snafu, part of your comment was offensive. most mods are 95 years old? this called is age-ism. members dead? not nice. bigd, some folks just kind of copy the post prior add thier own twist.

Last week I posted a link to a newspaper article (in English) about the recent launch of a huge Monsanto project in Tlajomulco. Later that day, I wondered if there had been any replies and came back here to see. The post was gone.

I wrote to a moderator to ask if it had been moved and if so, where. The moderator replied, "I'll look. That post should not have been deleted." I waited for quite a while for the moderator to reply, but after a few days I wrote to him/her again. "I have no idea," was the answer.

So (1) the post shouldn't have been deleted--per the moderator--and (2) it WAS deleted. By whom, and for what reason? Seems to me that a post about a Monsanto plant in Tlajomulco would be of interest to you folks at Lakeside.

Here's the link again: http://www.merid.org/en/Content/News_Services/Food_Security_and_AgBiotech_News/Articles/2014/Sep/30/a_new_center.aspx

More Liana, thank you. I thought you were one of the moderators and I always appreciate your insights on Mexican food and life.

Of course this should be of interest to us. Tlajomulco is very close to us and I care very much about Monsanto's encroachment on agriculture around the world.

There are two levels of moderation, one level is by the volunteer moderators, the top level is by the Admin, Chapala. Most topic deletions come from that level. That level also gives the volunteer moderators the marching orders.

This board is wholly owned and operated by a Realty firm and they get to decide what stays and what goes.

All complaints should be directed to Admin "Chapala" who makes the final call on content. The volunteer mods spend most of their time eliminating spam, organizing things and refereeing personal conflict.

An alternative site that is a good place to discuss topics not allowed here is www.insidelakeside.com

Thank you for your vote of confidence. I've never been a moderator on Chapala.com, nor would I want to be. From 1999 to 2010, I was a volunteer moderator on Mexconnect and enjoyed that about 99% of the time.
