Lucky Dog is Voted "Best of the Best" by Lakeside!

Recommended Posts

Lucky Dog is so honoured to have been voted by lakeside "Best of the Best" in two categories:

  • Best Animal Assistance and
  • Best Place to Voluntee

We thank our supporters and volunteers for creating an environment which has made this possible.

We also recognise and honour the other lakeside animal organisations such as The Ranch, Anita's, Operacion Amor & Compasion, Friends of the Animals, and all the others. By working together we are making lakeside a better place for the animals to live. Thanks to all you hardworking volunteers!
Gracias!

It was an online voting. You had to provide an email address, and last time I voted it resulted in SPAM, so I haven't bothered for a couple of years. It is a good measure of dedicated supporters and volunteers because each person votes repeatedly. Congratulations.

I hate things like this...anyone who rescues, feeds, donates, volunteers, or helps in any way is best of the best. No matter how big or how small.

So to all of you out there able to help in any way...you are the best.

Hate ..... is such a strong word Sasesu. These folks are dedicated and committed. With the growing number of organisations out there, they are replacing some of the decrepit, should be closed down ones. This is a good thing. Go out and see the place. It is delightful, clean, and happy.

We are fortunate to have four private dog and/or cat shelters. Each serves a purpose. I am not aware of any "decrepit, should be closed down ones".

Lucky Dog, in Chapala, specializes in smaller dogs and rapid turnover. This means they are able to find homes for a high number of dogs. They are the smallest of the 3 dog shelters.

Lakeside Spay Neuter - better known as The Ranch - has mostly medium to large dogs. They are also near Chapala, on several acres, and act as a sanctuary as well as a shelter for upwards of 70 dogs at any given time..

The Cat Shelters in Riberas, as the name implies, has kittens and cats with the occasional dog who was dumped at the shelter.

Anita's Animals is in San Juan Cosala. They shelter both cats and dogs and are particularly well set-up for housing puppies and kittens. Anita's is the largest of the 4 shelters.

In addition, we have several local Veterinarians who take in animals in need and try to find them homes as well.

Congratulations to Lucky Dog for their well deserved awards.

I agree completely with Mtn Mama. The only and biggest shelter problem we have at Lakeside is we need more. We could use twice as many as we have. There are dozens of tireless volunteers that put in untold hours in the four shelters Mtn Mama mentions. We at the shelters work very hard to work together and complement each other. There is far too much work to be done to spend precious time criticizing others for their good work. I know there are some out there who criticize those who choose to commit their volunteer work to animals rather than humans. That also I think is unfair. We all do what we do, we all contribute to the betterment of the Lakeside area. Two animal organizations Mtn Mama didn't mention because they are not shelters are Operacion Amor and Operacion Compasion. One does spay and neuter clinics in the Chapala municipality and one does clinics in the Jocotopec municipality. Between the two, hundreds and hundreds of dogs and cats belonging to Mexicans of limited means have been sterilized. Neither of those would happen either without the legions of volunteers that give their time. Can you imagine how many animals would be out there if it weren't for the efforts of all these organizations? Thank you to everyone who participates in even the smallest way.
