ComputerGuy
Can't recall the name at the moment, but I bought a bottle of red at CostCo that was being displayed two weeks ago. Big mistake, after I actually tried it. For $155 pesos, it was even worse than I expected. God-awful. Bitter as a bucket of cockroaches. So now I need to buy something for about the same price, but halfway decent to the discerning palette. I know there were some recommendations last year on this very board, but a search for "wine" turns up a looooooooooot of restaurant comments. Any takers? Thanks... EDIT: Apothic red is the name. El Saltos
Strange how palates differ, we love the Apothic red. BTW, it's way less than $155. Other Costco wines: A very nice red wine from France, made primarily of Grenache, is Veille Ferme, about 95 Pesos. The Kirkland Cotes du Rhone is exceptional this current vintage, it's a GSM (Grenach, Syrah, Mourvedre) made by a top winemaker, about $145Pesos. ComputerGuy
Okay, interesting. So I would like you to try the Marque del Valle Cabdrnet-Malbec that a good friend recommended. 65p at WalMart for what I thought was an amazingly nice drink, with no tongue-curling tannins or randy oak taste. Perhaps too pleasant for some tastes. BTW, I paid $155 at CostCo for the Apothic (unless they had a different price at the cash, $155 was on the sign where the samples were being given). bournemouth
That's a good sipping wine or with cheese - an excellent value for the money from LACetto - but nothing special and you want something special no?
ComputerGuy
Actually, I just want to make sure I don't offend... And thanks very much to everyone, including those who PMd. I have a nice full list now.
El Saltos
Good news! It is very important that any gift of wine you give has a GNS (guaranteed not swill) sticker on it!
