Residente Permanente y Mexican License!!

We started the process for the Residente Permanente the last week of February and we have been called to pick up our cards tomorrow!! We just put the Mexican license plates on the car this morning. This process was started a couple of weeks after we applied for R.P. So, now we are going to celebrate! I was so concerned about all this and it seems we were very lucky as there was no pain at all! :D We used Mago's office for the Residente Permanente as we have used their office for our FM3's for the last 8 years ... we used the lady at the airport for our car papers/etc. Everything really smooth. Maybe Mexico has worked out some of the kinks in the system and it is beginning to work better.

Congratulations! Would you mind sharing the contact information for the lady at the airport and the cost to nationalize? I realize depends on the car, but curious. Thank you.

Our car is a 2009 Nissan Murano and it cost us $35,000.00 pesos. Before I get piled on about this ... our car is a very low milage car as we bought it new, we know that the maintenance has been done as required, we plan to keep this car for approximately 8 years, when there are too many miles and it get too old (in our opinion) to drive back and forth to the States for visits we will opt to fly. So, we felt that the approximate $2700.00 U.S. was worth doing.

Unfortunately, I have been told that the lady we used is no longer taking on new cars to be legalized. However, if you do a search on this subject there is another lady (in another location) that has been recommended highly. She has given her contact information and is (I believe) willing to take care of legalizing cars here at Lakeside also. I am not completely sure about this but I am sure that someone else will know.

canmex87, I do not know if Mago's has been able to speed up the operation. I just know what our experience was ... however, we have never had the problems over the years when renewing our FM3's, etc. that I have read that others have experienced. Mago has always made the experience an easy one for us. We know that this service came with a price tag but it was a decision we made to lessen stress and we skimped in other areas as needed. :)
