More puppies and Dogs at LFA Animal Shelter

Recommended Posts

The Riberas Animal shelter now has 3 small puppies 2 female & 1 male 8 to 10 weeks old. from .85Kl to 1.1 KL

Also just in a young female terrier type about 8 pounds in heat. She was found running on the Libremente.

She has a collar but no name. She was probably chased down the highway because she is in heat.

I am going to have her Spade as I cannot keep a young female in heat with my large pack of dogs.( It doesn't matter that my males are neutered they will still try to mount her.)

If you hear of anyone who might have lost this girl please direct them to the shelter.

Also please come check out the puppies.

Having them spayed while in heat can sometimes end badly. Spaying is usually not a problem.... but once in awhile it is. If my dog got out and someone grabbed/saved her and had surgery done on her and something went wrong.... I would never forgive them. They may have been planning on spaying her as soon as she was out of heat. I don't know... it just doesn't feel right.... :(

Cookie I do not disagree with you and if you would like to foster her while she completes her heat cycle that would be great . I can be reached at the shelter Thursday.

She was brought to me because the shelters are full and I have to try and do the best I can with my resources.

I wish I could...and I would if I were there. I have 11 here. Eight of which were SUPPOSED to be fosters..... I'm a sucker for a puppy in need...or an oldy in need.... scratch that..I'm just a sucker period.

I worked for a vet many years ago and we did a ton of spays and neuters. Then one day a lady brought in the CUTEST...SWEETEST parti Cocker Spaniel. We lost her. (she wasn't in heat..but she was allergic to the anesthetic) My boss gave her mouth to mouth for 45 minutes trying to save her..but her lungs had collapsed. It just about killed me and my boss was in tears.he was such a softy and a wonderful vet. Of course it had to be the one that we both fell in love with because she was such a doll.

I know you're doing the best you can...but maybe there's someone there who could hold her just till she's out of heat...or until her "mama" shows up? Maybe someone with all females?

We are drowning in puppies, kittens, cats, and dogs here. Shelters are full to overflowing, and foster homes are extremely hard to find. With some of the things going on here, like dogs being burned in Ajijic, we need to be judicious in what we use our few willing foster homes for. While spaying an animal in heat is not ideal, it is certainly very possible and preferable when compared to the alternatives in a loose animal. Sue is an outstanding foster, and provides the very best vet care for the animals. I trust her and the vets implicitly. I would spend no time worrying that this dog's owner would show up and be angry because their "pet" was spayed after being found running down the libramiento in heat.

This little girl is only about 10 months old so this was her first heat.this explains why she was so frightened. She has been successfully spayed and treated to help remove her enticing smell. She is resting comfortably.

here and will be back at the Shelter Monday.

I have always taken in a few puppies or small dogs since Geoffrey closed the dog section. I take the dogs home with me at night and only bring them when I am working.I only have dogs when Luckie Dog is full and the dogs are brought to the shelter. I never pick up dogs unless they are hurt or obviously in need of medical attention..

Gosh, there is something that I do not understand. The best way to get ones attention, is not to just write a sad story, but to post a picture. And it is so easy to do. Just ask any 14 year old or older teenager with a cell phone and a Facebook account, etc., and s/he can show you how.

Me? I have 3 rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats. I suppose I could have more. but I have to stop somewhere, And I have reached my limit.
