Lower Riberas - no water - 3rd day

Recommended Posts

You have to determine if it is your house or the area. If it is the area get together with your neighbors and go to Semapa. In April and May it is not uncomon for the water supply to go down and for the water to be delivered at night or only during certain hours and maybe not daily so it is good to have a tinaco or a cistern,

Consider yourself lucky we are in Chiapas right now and we have been out of water for 2 weeks and we do not have a pool or accress to clean water,,,We have had meeting with the water company, gone to the papers etc.. yes water can be a problem in Mexico before the arrival of the rainy season.

Be carefull and ask where the water comes from, some water is potable and some is not. If you cannot trust them, buy a bunch of 20 l bottles for consumption and showers and flush toilets or wash floors with pool water, We are higher than you are but our water company told us to boil water for 5 mn. We also add chlorine to the tank when we receive water :1 liter of chlorine for 1000 litres of

water.

There is a man called Aldana or Aldama who sells water. I do not know if it is potable.

I called our plumber, Miguel, and he's sending someone this afternoon with water to fill our cistern.

At this point, we don't need potable water as such as we only use bottled water to drink, etc. and we have some of that on hand.

Until we get city water again, we will use bottled water to sanitize fruit and veggies.

I might even get an extra load of water so I can fill the pool again since it's so low now that the pool pump is no longer working and the pool water has turned green.

I still LOVE living here though :D

Thanks for all the advice.

I'd still like to know if anyone else in Lower Riberas is without water from the street? We're close to Mirasol but not in the fracc).

I'm thinking that the city hasn't been sending water to our house for more than 3 days.

Last time we noticed that they didn't send water for 3 days straight, we didn't run out of water completely but this time yes.

I'm guessing Simapa isn't open on Saturdays huh?

The note on their door says they're closed April 17 & 18.

We switched over to our reserves (aljibe and tinaco) 3 days ago and now we're out.

A neighbour in Mirasol asked his handyman to ask around and the answer is:

The city's pump hasn't been working for 2 days and their well is low.

That's what he was told anyway.

The last time I had them out they assured me they "pumped" 4 days and then not for 2, I should have asked for more detail, like 4 days in which month? - I was low a couple days ago but they are trickling some down to us yesterday and today, but with the Easter weekend essentially here, you can bet it will be minimal at best and it's dry dry and getting dryer.

There are two wells that service lower Riberas. One is actually in upper Riberas on Santa Margarita and the other is at the intersection of Los Angeles and Santa Monica. There are also houses on the east side of San Diego before Los Angeles that are not in Riberas and get their water from Mirasol. Do you know which well your water supply comes from?

My water comes from the well on Los Angeles and I've not had a problem, even though the pressure seemed a little low as I was watering the lawn starting this morning and continues until now. The water for the lawn comes through a tap directly off the street before the aljibe. Its possible that if your property gets water from that well and if you are at the end of the line that this could be the problem as this has happened before during the dry season.

I don't know which well services our house.

Our plumber said he will go with me to put a report and hope for the best LOL

We had a water truck fill our aljibe for a cost of 250 pesos; we gave him 300 pesos.

He also put some water in our pool but couldn't fill it because he ran out of water from his truck.

Now for quick showers.

Day 7+ and still no water from the city.

We went to Simapa this morning.

They told us they'd send someone today. Our maid was here and before she left, I had her call to check on the status and they said they'd send someone in 10 minutes.

Huh; any surprise that nobody showed up?

Not a good time to visit us as not many showers being taken here LOL

Eagles100, we had the same problem a few weeks back in Upper Riberra, we call senapa and it took them four days to come over. They blew the lines with compress air. Its not perfect but we will not run out of water now.

Bonne chance avec cela.
