Islander
We will be driving (not flying) down this year and curious if we can buy R135a refrigerant there. It is not available in Canada any more. We do not want to change the whole system. Anybody bought it recently?
Fred Habacht
There is an air-conditioning repair shop in Joco who claims to be able to get it
Islander
That would be great. Thanks. Could you please tell me the approximate location of the shop. We have only basic knowledge of Joco.
Go Solar
It is 134a, fyi, and is available in the US, so since you are driving down, why not just pick some up and bring it? The AC PRO kits reportedly make it easy to even DIY it, with easy connections and gauges built into the cans of refrigerant. Here's a link to many types carried by W*M: http://www.walmart.com/c/kp/r134a
Ezzie
Are you really sure it is R-135a or do you really mean R-134a?? If R-134a, the Autozone stores here carry a good selection of DIY recharge kits to help you top up the system in your car. If you are talking about refrigerants for an appliance, there is a Dupont distributor called Refrigeracion y Accesorias here in Mexico that carries a broad range of different types. They have 4 locations in Guadalajara and more info on their web site at http://www.reacsa.com.mx.
Islander
Thanks "Go solar" and "Ezzie" for your notes and information.. You are right it is 134a. We already bought the hose "kit"...some time ago. We know that it is available in US but wondering if available in Mexico as well.
Osoprehistorico
If you ever decide to repair the leak in your system, let me know for a good repair place but it is in GDL. AC and car heaters is all they do and and have been there for years.
johnny b gone
If you have to keep adding refrigerant to system, you have a leak. Possibly small, but you need to get it fixed. AC's are sealed units.
behnwau
Ricardo in Jocotepec fixed my seals and put in the refrigerant in my '88 Ranger. He's just past Mary's Bakery.
Islander
Thank you all very much for all the suggestions. We do not really use it here (up North) but will look at fixing it when down...... If it will not cost a fortune. I am saving this post for future reference,
