No good restaurants here? Are you kidding? I spent quite a few years in an area of California called the High Desert (Victorville/ Hisperia/Apple Valley) with about the same population as Lakeside and the same geographic area. I could count the good restaurants on 2 fingers. Fast food restaurants...one on every corner. Wendey's, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC all over the place. I went back there recently to visit and on a Saturday night I could not find one place with live music and any action...man, was i glad to be back here! We ought to thank our lucky stars every day to be here...I can name over a dozen restaurants that I would say are good to very good and every night you can find a nice place to relax, dance and have a good time. Maybe this guy is from France...you know how they are about food, Please!!!

Ha,ha.

If you want to compare lakeside restaurants to Wendy's, McDonalds, or KFC s, I agree with you 100% , lakeside restaurants shine.........and obviously , our tastes differ.... All depends what we are used to.

It must to tough living Lakside for someone accustomed to the finer things in life. Perhaps this is what caused you to make such a snarkey reply to gringohombre. Have you considered moving?

Dang, people are touchy about their food and reviewing food and what people should think of all the food! I guess new to all this.

I notice your handle here is Islander. I am also from an Island (Bermuda) and talking to my brother there we compare restaurant quality and prices and he is amazed at what we have here. I have traveled quite widely and lived in some large cities and except for maybe some very exotic (and expensive) dishes and restaurants you can find it here. This board is a good place to start. As JRP JR says maybe Paris would be a better place for you to live.

I'm all in favor of moving to Paris and enjoying the cuisine. As it happens, I have a Lakeside kind of budget. So do most Lakesiders, and we're grateful to have the choices we do have. When I first moved to Mexico, there were far fewer, and I expected to rely on my own kitchen and a few splurges while traveling.

Gringohombre's point was obvious: many places have almost NO choices beyond chain "food". Trying a put-down on him for stating that is the kind of stretch that reflects poorly on the person saying it.

Many of us have had the opportunity to travel, to live in sophisticated cities and enjoy fine food in the past. So what? We've chosen to live here with what is here.

This forum is about sharing information. It's about letting others in on new places we're tried and judging them on the scale of what else is available HERE, not elsewhere in the world......where we are not, nor are likely to be.
