chelseagirls Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 Had the Junky Monkey (without the banana and pineapple!) delivered. Lovely thin crust Pizza, generous toppings YUM.Great to have this so close to us!!! Thank you
Viajero-Tiempo Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 Their margharita pizza (the only pizza in my opin) is very good. I've heard some say it could use a little more sauce. But I didn't say it. The crust is done well in their wood burning oven.
CCC Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Great pizza! I had the Junky Munky with the bananas and pineapple and loved it! Fun place and great to know there is delivery now too!
Shira Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 A friend and I had lunch at Junky Monkey yesterday. We ordered a large, basic pizza to which we added onions, mushrooms and ground beef. Chris asked if we wanted extra sauce and extra cheese, which we did. It was a loaded pizza by the time we got through. What we did not ask for but you need to, is a thin, crisp crust if that is what you prefer. He is very willing to accomodate requests. The pizza came to 124 pesos and was large enough for the two of us to be very satisfied when we were finished. This is a recommend.
Shira Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 When the Junky Monkey posts were moved to the Restaurant Happenings forum, all the reviews were moved and now expunged so I am reposting my review. A friend and I went to Junky Monkey about 10 days ago. We decided to split a large pizza. We ordered the basic pizza and then added onions, mushrooms, and pepperoni. Christopher asked if we wanted rour pizza dry or with more sauce. We wanted more sauce. We also wanted more cheese. It was a loaded pizza. The dough was thicker than we would have liked but not thick like a Domino's pizza. The price was 124 P and was worth every centavo as we walkedaway full and satisfied. We discussed the dough with Christopher and he is anxious to please. Tell him how you would like your pizza toppings and how you want the dough. He is happy to oblige. This is a recomend.
Wookie Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Shira, Christopher may be a little too anxious to please .... but I am thinking he will get the combination down soon. On your recommendation we ordered a pizza delivered. The crust was so thin that it was barely there and the cheese was so thick that it bled through the thin crust. However, the ingredients were tasty and we ate the whole thing. Next time we will ask for a thicker crust which is the opposite problem that you encountered. I hope he might give a choice of thin or thick crust. Also, the large pizza is not enough for a large man and a hungry woman We will order a large and a medium next time .... which is better anyway because you can get two different kinds. Also, we will be ready with a hot oven to heat and crisp it up because they did not have the pizza delivery boxes that keep a pizza hot for a bit. It was delivered between two paper plates that provided no insulation at all.
Shira Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Luke notice I said to tell him how you want the dough. He is willing too make it thick or thin depending on what you prefer.
HelperGuy Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I wonder how much those boxes cost? MIght be worth it; $124 is a pretty darn good price for a large, and the box shouldn't add that much.
Wookie Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 We know now to ask for a thicker crust ... didn't know we had a choice as we were not given one when we called.
CCC Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I have really loved the Junky Munky pizzas since they opened, and Christian and Cassie will customize your order to please. They now have boxes for delivery and are setting up a system to keep home delivery food piping hot. For a restaurant that has only been open two weeks I think they are doing an amazing job of working through the growing pains. Best pizza lakeside hands down, I hope you will give them another try.
cedros Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Do they have a phone#? (045) 331 038 4129
JayBearII Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 And they're open 1:00 to 11:00, so it is one of the few places if you are hungry at the odd hour. Not sure the 11 pm is a good idea for them but they;re doing it. BTW, my little take-home sheet says they're closed Thurs. and that the 2 sizes are chico and grande. The grande feeds us two just fine but appetites vary. I like to order enough to ensure leftovers, as that way I can still claim we only go out for pizza once a week;)
gary c. Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 From a friend... best pizza she's had Lakeside in over 10 years. Loved the thin crust (ate at the restaurant). Great ingredients. Large glass of very good wine for only 30 pesos. We'll be trying take out soon. Carol
Canamex Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 We also think it's the best pizza we've had lakeside, though the crust both times has been a bit burnt. We'll have to talk to him about that. We had a custom pizza first time and the Greek with artichokes the second. A bit light on the blue cheese it is supposed to carry, but we would order it again.
camillenparadise Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Certainly would be helpful if they'd bother to answer their phone for take-out orders....
artsnob Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 We also have tried to call on more than one day for delivery pizzas (4large) and no one answers their phone so have given up...
Ferret Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Had their pizza for the first time tonight...there will be many, many more times that we will order. The sauce has a very light hint of garlic...very savoury. Actually went there and ordered the pizza for takeout...1/2 hour from ordering, I left with a piping hot pizza. While waiting, I sat on their patio and enjoyed a diet coke. Please understand that their cell phone is not on Cassie's person as she runs around waiting on tables and filling orders. They've been open for less than a month and are a little overwhelmed by their success. Give them a chance...you won't be sorry.
bradshoe Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Thanks for all the posts about them not answering the phone for to-gos. Inatead we went there to place our order, had some wine and before we could finish the wine the pizza was ready. Worked out well. Even got a cup to take the wine with us.
desafinada Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 We called several weeks ago and got no answer. Shortly after I hung up the phone, she called back. Having a pizza delivered was a lifesaver after a very busy day.
Junkymunky Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Hello to all! First we would like to apologize for the missed phone calls......as someone had mentioned, the phone is not on my person so i can not hear it if i'm not close...or sometimes to do technical difficulties....we want to be able to provide the best service and attention to all, so i'am posting another phone number which is my husband's (Christian), so for whatever reason you are not able to get a hold of me please feel free to give him a call.....His number is (045) 331 398 8939..and once again our apologies to all and thankyou for your support as always! Buen Dia
jhark Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Had the best pizza at Lakeside tonight that we have had since moving here almost 7 years ago and will definitely be back for more. Called the order in and it was ready for pickup in 20 minutes. Requested a medium crust and it was perfect. Thanks for coming to the rescue for really good pizza! <img src="" />
Beeland Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Well, I had initially been disappointed in the pizza at the Junky Monkey after trying one when they first opened and gave me my pizza to go without the benefit of a pizza box to keep it warm. I was even more disappointed as they are located just a couple of minutes from my home which meant no more cross-town trips for decent pizza so I was really pulling for them. Last night we had some kids over for a get-together and decided to give the Junky Monkey another try by ordering a large pizza for all. We decided to try the Junky Monkey special pizza but without the bananas and I am pleased to report that they not only now have pizza boxes to keep their pizza-to-go warm but that was one very good pizza prepared in their wood burning oven. These kids are used to Domino´s served with copious amounts of ketchup and they not only really liked the Junky Monkey pizza but - and this a a true breakthrough - quaffed it down with not even one drop of ketchup. Even more importantly, my wife and I also really liked this pizza very much and will definitely make this our new pizza place - kids or no kids. We welcome the Junky Monkey to West Ajijic and wish them success. Very friendly staff, by the way and you can order to go from home which is a great convenience..
Jeanneb2000 Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Where is the restaurant located?
crjd Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 It 's in the location previously occupied by Jose's Illusion Greek Restaurant on the north side of the Carretera prior to reaching Fracc. Villa Nova
