lakeside7 Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I was at LCS to day to obtain post life planing forms. Seems that they are being revised "to met changing Mexican requirements". I tried to locate Terry to ask what are the changes, but he was in a meeting. Any idea what are the new requirements???
lcscats Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I was at LCS to day to obtain post life planing forms. Seems that they are being revised "to met changing Mexican requirements". I tried to locate Terry to ask what are the changes, but he was in a meeting. Any idea what are the new requirements??? Right now the program is on hold for new members. They are in the process of updating the files to computer type stuff and this takes a while. I heard the program will open up in middle of August and I imagine we will hear of any changes than. I see many volunteers working hard on this doing data input to computerize this stuff. This is what I have heard. It is as correct as I know as a volunteer around the place.
Ellie Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 The new information SHOULD be available later this week but please check. We are having meetings this coming week to advise all Service Desk, Information and Post Life volunteers concerning the changes so Terry is REALLY busy being sure that all information/ paperwork, etc is in place. The update of current files to computer is on ongoing process.
lakeside7 Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 Any feed back from the Post Life Planing meeting???
Ellie Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 The new booklets and forms are ready and in the office for pickup. We're awaiting a larger supply from the printer but we're ready to proceed.
lakeside7 Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 The new booklets and forms are ready and in the office for pickup. We're awaiting a larger supply from the printer but we're ready to proceed. Thanks, has there been any significant changes?
Ellie Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Yes and I would not attempt the detail here. You need to read the booklet and be informed. There are alternatives - some simple, some more complex. Existing Post Life paperwork remains in effect for those who have previously enrolled however Mexican law has changed and there are more alternatives regarding Health Care Directives and other documents. This will eventually be on the LCS website - no dates at this time.
lakeside7 Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Kudos to the LCS for the tremendous amount of work that has been researched etc...why is life so complicate now in Mexico.... Create a Health Care Directive, Create a Post Life Wishes document, Create a last Will and Testament in Mexico, Create a Power of Attorney I guess for many folks here there needs to personal assistants to help create all these "creations"

I would be very careful in Mexico handing anyone a full power of attorney.
Sandrita Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Are there new forms available today? Muchas gracias.
Ellie Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Are there new forms available today? Muchas gracias. There are booklets and forms available - READ the booklets which include lots of information and decide what is appropriate for your individual situation.
Maisha Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 there is a very long thread, with lots of information, on this topic..... www.insidelakeside.com go to out on the mirador, then find the thread that begins with LCS brochure
el bartman Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Question Please: OK, you've got the forms a filled out and you croak. How do the relative "authorities" know to carry out your wishes?
RVGRINGO Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 You will be given cards to carry and/or stick on your refrigerator, etc. The LCS and funeral/cremation agencies will be alerted. LCS will contact your MD, Consulate, etc.
el bartman Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks Bob, they never gave me any card or refrigerator magnet which is why I ask. By the way, it's certainly not my intention to depart soon. But how does LCS know you kicked the proverbial bucket in order to contact relevant parties? And what happens if you give up LCS membership?
holdrja Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 We filed our forms at LCS in October and were not given any fridge magnets or cards to carry. We've put copies of the forms in a file cabinet drawer at the house prominently labelled "post life planning" and have told everyone who is here regularly about that drawer. Not sure what else we can do. Any suggestions?
RVGRINGO Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 No magnets, just cards were given to us. Whoever finds a corpse or attends a death will know which 'funeria' to call and the MD will know what to do. The card takes care of that and establishes that LCS has other pertinent information on file. The corpse need not worry.
lakeside7 Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 There are now 3/4 Funeral Homes listed.. Check out the local one, Moreh on the highway in Riberas. 765-4546 . Karla speaks English

Dr.Santiago Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 As a Physician, I highly recommend that you make "END OF LIFE" and "POST LIFE" plans known to your doctor and have him/her document them in your chart. Having recently had to deal with an END OF LIFE scenario I just want to remind everybody how it is such an emotional time for everybody and a patient's wishes should be clearly stated while of sound mind and body and then respected by his/her family, friends and loved ones. I ask these questions during my initial office visit and then ask if there are any changes to the patient's wishes in subsequent visits
